anyone else had any luck with a £49 sky+ box? I want to try it but don't want to bother ringing and holding if they're saying no at the moment.0

Shocking. I wonder if it is Sky's policy to provide old kit or whether the installer was trying to pull a fast one?
You did the right thing. The digibox becomes yours, as you will find out if you ever try to get an out-of-warranty repair.0 -
i have just got a HD box for 99£
Only problem was upgrading to get all channels but can downgrade again anyway and no fussed for a few months anyway esp with Euros etc.
If anyone is thinking of cancelling i would do it and see what they come back with. No good umming and ahhing though. I just cancelled there and then and said i was off to Freesat.
BTW if you are looking for a free sky plus and are local in MKeynes then try the stands outside in the centre. All doing free skyplus and HD 99 for new subscribers0 -

I've just had a call from Sky offering me Sky+ for £49 including installation. Really really pleased.I sent them an email via their contact pages on their website saying I wasnt happy, I'd been a loyal customer for years and pay the full amount plus sky multiroom. I said I never get offered anything, even though new customers can get a free sky+ box. I got a reply saying that they do, from time to time, have promotional offers to existing customers and that their aim is to provide excellent viewing service etc. I replied saying I still wasnt happy and that I was thinking of cancelling. After a few emails to and fro I finally get the call I've been waiting for (well having it free would have been even better but I cant complain really).I wasnt just doing this to get a free upgrade, I genuinely felt annoyed that I pay top whack and have done for years and dont get offered anything. I have phoned in the past and basically got nowhere. It's definitely worth emailing them if you dont like to ring up and say you're going to cancel. Just be persistent! Julie0 -
Just phoned sky, spoke to some helpful scottish lady but not helpful enough, she would not budge from £99. I obviously said no. She originally said that I was contracted with them until Oct 2008, but I have not been contracted since Oct 2000. I will try again tomorrow, you never know. Any helpful hints out there.I am only trying to help :rolleyes:0

Good idea, esp if you have the actual price like that from Virgin, and no harm stretching the truth about the price, I reckon!
By the way, a freephone number that I've got for Sky from "say no to 0870" is 0800 051 2595.
Good luck and let us know how you get on!0 -
