I called the number the op quoted and told them i was canceling because a rep from Virgin had been canvasing the area and offered me a Sky + box she said they could do that for £49.00 I told her Virgin were doing it for free. She asked me to hold while she spoke to her supervisor she then came back and said they could do it free they could also offer me free phone and INTERNET for 12 months I said I would think about phone and INTERNET but would go ahead with the new box this was Thursday night the engineer fitted it on Sunday she was really nice and said virgin were trying to steal there customers so they were trying to keep them by offering deals.an GC. £180.00/£3000

Just been onto sky , couldn't use the 08 number but phoned the 05..... one and got through to indian call centre and asked for cancellations....after being kept hanging on for 5 mins they put me through to a scotish lady and the spiel went....:
Can't watch sky cos I work in the evening , my video is broke so I need to buy a new recorde3r of some sort and I can't afford to do that and pay for sky as well...........all I got was well if you tkae sky broadfband and tlk we can do you sky + for £99!!! I explained I have broadband and am going to change to talktalk for phone and bb all in for £17(incl line rental) and sky are not enabled in my local ex so I would be paying them £27 inc line rental so financially why should I do this? All I got was well sky+ has lots of advantages etc etc , when I said well I want to cancel cos I can't afford to pay for sky and buy a new recorder all I got was more well can't ou introduce a friend etc. at this point I could see it was useless so I hung up . Might try again later. I really am not that bothered about Sky and would quite be prepared to cancel it so what is the best approach for me to take? Should I mention I'm considering Virgin as they are in our area, actually they are upto 100yds down the road but don't come over the canal bridge to my houseStarting MB- looking for Raf offers.

Seems like there aren't going to be anymore free sky+ boxesStarting MB- looking for Raf offers.

If you go for sky multi-room when you order sky+ they move your old box to any room you choose but i am not sure if they take it away if you just upgrade.
Amstrad use to build digi-box's but Sky bought the firm for £125 million pound's so there is less choice in the market.
Before you threaten to leave SKY make sure you can get VIRGIN cable in your area ? its no good phoning up and they know you cannot get VIRGIN CABLE0 -
Anyone know if SKY offer short term contracts or are they always 12 months?
I cancelled my original package last July but would like Sky Sports back just for say a month over the christmas period! I already have a box and dish, but if I phone them are they likely to tell me to get lost?!0 -

if you've had a contract with them before and you still have the dish and box installed i am pretty sure you can come back for free if only for one month - best to call them up on 0870 2404040 and ask them what they can do for you? Try and talk to Retentions, you might get a good deal.0 -

I signed for "see surf speak" deal, and was offered the sky+ for £49. all well and good, until the engineer turned up yesterday with an old grey 1st generation sky+ box, 3 yr old rubbish refurbished junk ! i sent him packing and cancelled the deal, phoned sky to complain, no interest shown for my ordeal, my next move is trading standards, as the product brought to my home was not the product shown to me by the smooth talking rep.0
