Let's be quite clear on this: this is the direct result of the Conservative government's decision to dump the entire cost of this scheme onto the BBC.

It wasn't "dumped" on the BBC.

The BBC took it on, as part of a deal they agreed to, and which they are now reneging on.

Hi, my dad gets pension credit I noticed on the most recent email I have received that he can get a tv licence - how do I go about this for him? He’s not quite 75 yet, however he does as I said before get state pension.

Itll still be freefor anyone over 75 till June 2020. Their is a phone number for renewals, he really should of contacted them at the last licence renewal, and paid pro rata till 75th birthday.
  • Not to mention the ones jailed after Capita have kicked in the door.

Slight exaggeration there. Capita don't kick in doors.

Except that the government has the downright cheek to be blaming the BBC for this - when it's actually the government that dumped the financial responsibility for it from itself to the BBC.

The Government didn't "dump" anything on the BBC. It was part of a deal the BBC agreed to
Johnson would be an appropriate leader (but a hopeless PM!)

You think Comrade Corbyn would be a better PM?

Wasn't this money supposed to help fund the NHS, as per the big red bus?

That money (and more) has already been allocated to the NHS.

The annual salary for the BBC's Director-General is "£450,000".

Almost 3 times that of the Prime Minister!

particularly for something of the size and complexity of the BBC.

Is it more complex than the country?

the Prime Minister gets significantly more of course.

Not compared to the DG of the BBC.

Obviously you can't use the Prime Ministers salary as a benchmark because the job is severely underpaid.

The CEO's of a lot of companies earn much much more.

The BBC approached the Govt to include the iPlayer in the TV licence.

And an increase (so far 2 increases) in the LF.
