Green have come up top of comparisons for me as i need to move from e.on due to my fix ending in September.
Being  a bit more wary of companies going bankrupt etc these days i had a quick look on companies house.
https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/12549736 - is this the right company?
As if so it looks very newly registered and there appear to be no accounts published etc. Should i be concerned and look elsewhere?

  • Good morning,

Thank you for considering Green for your next supplier - our companies house listing can be found at https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/11042716 if you would like some more information, and please feel free to contact us over email, telephone or live chat 7 days a week if there is anything else you'd like to ask us!

    Email: support@green.energy
    Phone: 0345 222 2525
Live Chat: Visit our website, green.energy

The other companies house listing you've is for our business energy brand which is soon to be launched. Anyone who is interested in having their business energy supplied by Green can register their interest at business.green.energy to be notified as soon as we're ready to sign you up!

Alongside this, we are also soon launching into the prepayment market and are excited to offer 100% renewable electricity to new customers on this type of meter. If you would like to know more, you can also register your interest at prepay.green.energy

    Kind regards,
    Tom

No and I’m not expecting them to unless Green change how they take payments.
  • Good evening all!

Green use a service called Gocardless to take our payments. Gocardless are certified to ISO27001 and FCA certified, so as well as being protected by the Direct Debit Guarantee, customer details are kept safe by state-of-the-art security.  However, we aren't a part of Santander's 2% cashback scheme.

    Kind regards,
    Tom

Well I'm with you - and I'm getting cashback from Santander!!! And it does appear as GC re Green Energy Supply Ltd
  • Thanks brewerdave, I've brought this up on my side and managed to get a bit more clarity on this.

We don't work directly with Santander, but we are aware of some of our customers who are with Santander receiving this cashback and others not. We've attempted to discuss this further with them to try and secure this little bonus for every one of our customers (even going as far as a member of our Senior Management Team opening a Santander account) but unfortunately they have not been very open to discussing this with us. We believe there is some reluctance on their part to making a blanket statement that would lead to them paying out this cashback for all of our many customers, but they have told us that if a Santander customer is not receiving this and raises a complaint with them, they are likely to pay out.

I hope this helps and clarifies matters! We'd love for this bonus to be available for all of our Members and if anything changes regarding their official policy, we will let you know.

Any news on what Green are doing with respect to standing charges for those who have related/restricted meter setups? Those customers currently pay 2+ standing charges for their electricity (one per MPAN), but see Ofgem's recent involvement with Bulb on why this shouldn't be happening.

    https://www.ofgem.gov.uk/publications-and-updates/ofgem-closes-compliance-engagement-bulb

    https://bulb.co.uk/blog/update-from-bulb-improving-our-processes

"We had misinterpreted industry rules around how to charge restricted metering customers. We thought we should charge two standing charges and offer a single unit rate. This was incorrect. Ofgem contacted us about this issue in February 2020 and we have worked with them to resolve it, we've repaid any incorrect charges and offered compensation"
  • Thanks for bringing this up bsms1147 - we've also been following the recent news about Bulb and as it happens have recently been in discussions with Ofgem regarding this matter.

The rules on restricted or related meters apply where a customer has requested a single rate tariff, and the supply licence conditions mean that we are not allowed to withhold this type of tariff from a customer due to their metering setup. This means that customers who do not use the multiple rates of their related metering setup, and have requested a single rate tariff, are not subject to multiple standing charges. However, customers who do want to have a tariff specific to their related meters still have the choice of opting for a time of use / multi rate tariff.

I hope this helps, and if any of our customers on the forum would like to enquire about their specific account we're always available to chat between 7am and 11pm, 7 days a week.

    Kind regards,
    Tom

I switched towards the end of 2019 & everything went very smoothly. I think I only had to fill in one form for everything to move across.
I've had no problems since (unless you count the weather making me use more energy for heating & cooling!). It's easy to submit metre readings & they send an email to request them every month, but estimate if you don't.
Just contacted through the online chat to discuss moving to a potentially cheaper plan & had a very fast response. Apparently I won't be better off as the savings from one dual fuel will cancel out the other.
    Big thumbs up from me!
