  • Hi Dan!

Well done on smashing your debts this year and on the new mindset!

I'm too looking at getting rid of a lot of stuff and selling/donating/tipping next year. When I moved in two years ago I had gotten rid of half my stuff, and I seem to have accumulated things again! I'm good at the that :rotfl: I'm going to try and not do the same thing this time once I have cleared things out.

Your 2020 goals look great and I know you are going to smash them too!

Thanks for the encouragement over on my thread this year also

    Happy New Year!

    Hi Travel :)

    Happy New Year!

The tip is probably going to be one of my most visited places over next few months :rotfl: I don't know maybe i am just been crazy, but i have really become aware of not owning stuff just for the point of it. Do i need a phone yes...does it need to be a £1000 + phone deffo not!!! haha Its defo not going to be easy and is probably one of my toughest goals but i will smash it.

Thank you so much for the cheering on and encouragement along the way it really does help.:j

    Happy New Year Guys:beer::beer:

Nice relaxed day today, well up until 5pm when footy was on :rotfl:

Working the night shift tonight so plenty of time to reflect on what has been a really positive (mostly) 6 months or so since I started my journey. I am in a fab position with my priority utilities, tenancy is secured for another few years at least and my job is pretty secure (although not at my happiest here)

Over the next few months I have car tax - car insurance + breakdown cover to sort out. My Plan below:

Car Insurance - I am hoping to pay this in full, I have 1 monthly instalment left and then two freebie months so I will save away what I normally pay which should give me a decent chunk to pay in full in March.

Car Tax - Undecided on if to pay over DD again to allow me to save up through rest of year ready for next renewal or bite the bullet and pay the 12 months upfront, this doesn't bother me as much as I don't really save a huge amount if I don't pay by DD I think its like a £15 more over the year.

Breakdown - I deffo need this as I do travel a huge amount to get to work and also family visiting. I plan to pay upfront so will look for deals on this.

In addition to this from Jan I will be putting £45 a month away to cover any repairs/tyres and things. I can hopefully build up a buffer but if not I always have a little leeway in budget for now.

Once I have got through to the end of March my outgoings will drop again so from March I will be hoping to hammer the debt way more. Although we do need to fit into the budget sprucing up the home a little bit too.

2019 has had some amazing highs and I've experienced so much, its had some lows that I am fighting but here is to 2020 the year of debt freedom:T
  • The only thing I would say about car tax (as I found out the hard way) is if you pay monthly by DD, if you need to declare it off road/SORN it, you can't do it until the end of the month you have paid for, which is what caused me a pain as I had transferred my insurance so was having to pay to park it on my drive as I couldn't SORN it for another 3 weeks :o

Can't wait to see you debt-free this year!

Ah thanks for the heads up with that, this is a slight issue with the DD but hopefully providing my little car doesn't fall to pieces in the next 12 months i do plan on keeping it so maybe if i am lucky i won't need to worry over this issue.

    Hey Hey All,

Last night shift tonight! YAY then got 4 days off :)

Today was NSD number 2 which can never be grumbled at haha. I plan on doing a food shop for delivery but due to how well meal plan went hopefully won't spend as much this week

Also decided that i am going to let the car tax renew on DD for this year, i just don't want to focus on trying to pay too much annual stuff in one go and then leave myself short elsewhere. My main goal is to get car insurance paid off in full as this will have the most impact on my monthly budget so if i can do that then it will be a success.

Hopefully not got too many spendy days coming up although i am in London for a Day/night on Monday for the football. Luckily already paid for travel/tickets and hotel with Birthday money, and whilst this trip is defo not a necessity i am so looking forward to it...got still enjoy some life right

I have just gone through planning what days away and breaks (cheap) we can try fit in this year around the little ones school holidays so we can budget well in advance.

Hope you all have an awesome Friday:T:T

    Hey All,

WOW its been too long between updates haha.

Not got much update debt wise as all in lull now until we get to the end of January which always takes forever. Although money spends on general stuff also seems to be decreasing so that can only be a positive right?

Last few days have been a little spendy (although all well budgeted) as was in London to watch the football last night which included an overnight stop and unlimited breakfast. Loved it down there its such a different world...if a little more hectic and people are too busy rushing for conversation...not like us northerners :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I am now on four night so am going to spend sometime catching up on diaries and seeing what everyones updates are
  • I hate the lull between paydays!

Glad you enjoyed your trip to London.

Yeah, its strange as only paid a week earlier than normal but that week seems to drag it out, I am sure Jan has double the days :rotfl:

London was good, managed to have a really good day/night and few drinks and food. I was quite happy as had a 50% of mains for F&Bs so managed to save a bit there too.
