  • Hey!
    Just caught up.
Going back to the post where you talk about work - if I could tell you all the drama that has happened at my work this year then you would be gobsmacked, so yes it's not unusual, but obviously we would all much rather a positive environment and if work is getting you down it's time to change something. It's not too late to change career at all, at our age we probably have at least another 30 years to work unless you are able to retire early. That's longer than you would have already been in work and although time goes fast, 30 years is a lot of time you can fill with a job you would love. Also it looks like it might have just been your birthday? If so, Happy Birthday!
Sorry to hear about your Dad, hope things get better!

    Hey Travel :)

Sounds like we both have very dramatic work places. I can guarantee you would be as equally shocked :rotfl: I don't know i guess its frustrating that there is a negative vibe that i have no control over at all. I am defo going to reassess the work situation and see how it goes, re training certainly is an option in the New Year..how far into the new year is to be decided

Thank you, it was my birthday on Saturday although not sure another year older is something to celebrate:rotfl: The situation with my Dad is probably going to worsen, however there is literally nothing i can do to influence that situation so i am not worrying over it (which i know sounds incredibly selfish) but I have so much other stuff going off at the moment i can not really parent my own parent hahaha.

Hope you are doing well x

    Evening All,

Nice steady day @ work today and a NSD(what even is one of these hahaha). I have spent today cancelling down old direct debits that still show active even than no funds are been collected. Also adjusted some direct debits over to a different bank account.

I got my rota for next year too, so transferred all those into my calendar to ensure there is no cross over with football and to give a visual of where I can take breaks away without requiring holidays...one of the good things about 4 on 4 off lol.

Not really much else happening just feels like a countdown to the big guy visiting now, which will probs mean lots of awkward family visits to contend with. Hope you have all had a good weekend

    Hiya All :hello:

Hope you all had a fantastic xmas! It seems strange that this year has gone so quick. Xmas also means my work rota is all over the place haha,

Well i managed to make my normal payments and also managed to over pay, that is another of the Lowell Debts paid off so that is all good. Overall i have to be happy with progress i have paid off £1700 of debt which at this point last year was unimaginable. I am going into the new year with no debt on my priority debts too.

I am on nights tonight so i plan to look at the overall picture and plan my whole budget out properly for next year, the 1st few months might be tight as i have Car Tax / Car Insurance to sort and ideally would love to pay both in full but we shall see however if i can get those two ticked off the savings and over- payment on debts will be huge! So i could go some way to clearing most if not all debt by this time next year

WOW! Well that was a very interesting night shift, work was so quiet so I went through my next 12 months of finances (providing everything stays as is) and decided that i am going to really hammer the next 12 months to get debt free by this date in 2020! In order to do this I am really going to need to tighten up and get strict and become a little more aware of what i spend and what i actually spend it on.

I started watching some Dave Ramsey stuff on youtube and then this linked into other videos about how we associate possessions with happiness and several hours and youtube videos later I am literally transfixed with this outlook of not owing everything and how this can free you to do things you enjoy more.! This is something i am really looking into trying to figure out, I have so much possessions in my home that have no value to me at all they are just taking up space and consuming time having to clean the space they occupy.

I never really considered myself to be materialistic i just think its so easy to believe that these new shiny things make us happy., i want to teach my daughter that its okay to not have everything and still be happy. So today is the day i invest more in experiences that add value than material things.

    My List Of Things Today

    - Declutter the entrance area/conservatory - This is currently taking up old boxes full of old paperwork / some toys and also our coats and shoes but they look so untidy. Our plan was to turn this into a entrance area, so i am going to declutter and then look to see if i can find a shoe tidy and a few coats hooks to tidy this area up.

    - I have several books / blu-rays that are gathering dust and not even being used, also taking up pointless space. I will look on-line later to see if i can sell some things to get money to pay off my debt. Anything i can not sell i will donate.

    - Winter / Summer /work wardrobes is something i have always thought makes sense, i have 3 drawers full of clothes i do not wear and have never worn. I may look to sell these or donate as unsure if any use for anyone online selling.

Mmm seems a long list considering i have just come off night shift :rotfl::rotfl: but i am determined to make a start on this whilst i am motivated to make positive changes in my life

The one thing i am ashamed to admit is that i have selfishly always allocated myself and partner way too much in terms of personal spends and bought just pointless things. So in the new budget this is going to be adjusted drastically. At this stage in my life been debt free is way more important to me than the latest tech / fashion. This is going to be quite some journey and in many ways runs along side becoming debt free...wish me luck...coz i am defo going to need it.
