  • Hi Dan!

Just caught up. I know how you feel about not reaching goals, but it's so great that you have laid the foundations and will be off to a great start in 2020! I bet this time last year was looking alot different!

    Hi Travel! :D

Thank you for the positivity! OMG Yes, this time last year was awful. I was behind with loads, nothing was ever budgeted. I feel in a better position, I do not worry about failed direct debits or court summons coming through the door. I just feel a little gutted that I have not got to exactly where I wanted to be.

2020 is going to be a much better start, I am hoping in my December wage I can pay off a huge slice so hopefully will end the year well. Ideally the car will not need anything major and I can put the money I have away for that to the debt
  • Looks like 2019 was the turn around year for you! Amazing that you can go in to 2020 with a completely different mindset and the weight that has lifted must be huge! :j

I'll keep my fingers crossed for your MOT!

100% overall i need to look at the positive impact the changes have made. I need to not worry so much about the debt figure. I knew Nov/Dec was going to be really tight due to MOT and other December things so i had over paid more through the last few months.

2020 is the year i am going to be debt free! By this time next year :T that is my goal. But i also think i have learnt that setting up a solid foundation money wise is key to tackling everything. The fact i have money aside for anything that pops up MOT wise, whilst still having paid every bill and still money spare is because of the work of the last few months.

My mindset has changed so much.
  • You've come a long way in a short time and you've done so well. You sound really in control and very focused these days, it's fantastic reading how positive you are about managing your finances. How amazing to think you could be debt free this time next year, I'm sure you can do it :)

Thank you DITR, yeah i sometimes do not have the most positive outlook on things and tend to focus on what i have not done rather the achievement I have made. If i could have forseen where i would be now back in June i would have been happy to take that. I think if i can pay a little extra this month and a bit from my December wage then its all good.

I plan to look over my yearly outgoings in next few weeks and plan the year out, i know that my energy bills will half because i have now officially cleared that debt and am now back on track. Also car ins will not be as much and council tax the same, so those little small gains will benefit me.

My intentions is to hit the 1st 6 months of the year really hard and pay off as much as possible whilst still living a tiny bit, so i will sacrifice a little more just so that i can get it cleared.
  • Hey,

Today has been spendy! However it was kinda budgeted for in a way as had to pay for car repairs. Normally I would dread this but knowing that i had money in a monzo pot ready to transfer over and pay this without missing a debt/priority bill or adding to debt is a sure sign this is working. This is the first time this budget has been tested and it passed the test with flying colours :). Hopefully this will now get through MOT on Monday with out any major issues, they flagged that brakes might be touch and go but he quoted repair price and i have this in an overflow budget that was saved from last month so all good.

I can not wait until this pots building up is in full force it will make stuff a doddle

In other news, work is stressful, dad is now back in and out of hospital plus i am doing extra shifts and my little one can not fight off this bug. Ahhh life sometimes throws a curveball i guess haha. In more positive (only just) news i have now passed over 1.5k paid since June.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend everyone
  • Good luck for the MOT, hope your Dad's okay. Well done on the pots doing their job and on the 1.5k paid off :T

Thank you DITR, its a really tough issue with my Dad unfortunately, its very difficult to see but he needs help but he is very stubborn and thinks he knows best.

Its a small success :rotfl: but success none the less (whether I am still thinking this after MOT time will tell haha).

    HAPPY 1st OF DECEMBER GUYS!!!

OMG how is it even the last month of the year already. This year has flown, time for reflection i think on all aspects of stuff really.

    Debt Update

This month progress has been very disappointing but all min payments made so nothing missed and no debt added, plus I knew this was going to be the case sort of. I will update my signature to reflect payments update. I also intend on making a overpayment mid December so this should take me upto aprox 1.7 k paid which is good progress.

    Positive Month happenings.

    - An extra weeks pay will be in my December Salary due to the added shifts I covered so this should come in handy
    - Finally opened H2B ISA...only just before deadline :rotfl: but it has already got its £1 in hahaha.
    - Xmas shopping nearly completed - few bits to buy from my December wage
    - Came in under-budget and managed to have money spare so this is good :)

Overall a really decent month, had a few rubbish days due to illness bugs going round the house. I am positive that the December income will cover us well. Also managed to get my head around YNAB and find it really useful but not sure if going to keep going with it or maybe try work it into some spreadsheet form...love a good spreadsheet to update :rotfl:
