Parking Fine for Unloading

I’m an entertainer and I went to a gig, the venue was in a shopping centre complex. I pulled up outside venue, unloaded , taking just a couple of minutes and then parked in a correct space. I’ve been sent a £60 fine rising to £100 if not paid within 14 days. I’ve spoken to PCM they say I shouldn’t have parked where I did to unload but I was told by 2 people from the venue that this was ok as there was no car park spaces available near and my stuff was very heavy. Also I didn’t even block the road. Then one of the ladies from the venue moved her car so I could park near the venue after we realised there still want anywhere to park. I was working and had no choice but to unload where I did. I had know idea that I would get a fine for unloading. I was unloading for 2 to 3 minutes at most.

What do I do next?

    I thought of this but it won’t solve anything because they never issued the ticket, and they, like me assumed it would be ok to unload and then move to proper parking spot. If they told me wrong, which it looks like they did, then I’m still i the same position and the venue can’t do anything to help with the fine. Plus, the stuff was heavy, so had to get as near as possible to unload, no other choice.

    There will be a manager of the shopping complex. The venue, as tenants, will know who it is. They will have the power to cancel it.

    You seem to think that the parking company are in charge.

    Someone, possibly the venue, signed a contract to allow the parking company to act as their agent.

    Someone, possibly the venue, will be able to instruct their subcontractor to cancel the ticket.

    I’ve just spoken to venue apparently it was the people who booked me who helped me in with stuff and told me it would be OK, not the venue staff, as I thought. But they were only trying to be helpful and did move their car so I could park close as appose to the other side of shopping centre. I’m just furious that I can be done for stopping and unloading for just a couple of minutes.

    It’s a shopping centre, park and it was a childs softplay area within the centre. so are you saying I need to get in touch with someone in the soft play centre or someone / owners of park itself. If so who would I speak too.

    Of course they did not issue a ticket, but they can put pressure on the company that hired the company which did.

    Nine times out of ten these tickets are scams so complain to your MP.

    Parliament is well aware of the MO of these private parking companies, and on 15th March 2019 a Bill was enacted to curb the excesses of these shysters. Codes of Practice are being drawn up, an independent appeals service will be set up, and access to the DVLA's date base more rigorously policed, persistent offenders denied access to the DVLA database and unable to operate.

    Hopefully life will become impossible for the worst of these scammers, but until this is done you should still complain to your MP, citing the new legislation.

    Just as the clampers were finally closed down, so hopefully will many of these Private Parking Companies.
    You never know how far you can go until you go too far.

    You can't be 'done', not by PCM unless you are a mug and pay! This is an invoice only, issued by a contractor (a scam) and the landowner can ALWAYS cancel it.

    This is not a fine and you will not be paying, but the reason we are pushing you to complain AGAIN AND AGAIN to whoever contracted with PCM (the scumbag ex clampers who've been exposed as rogue traders on Watchdog*) is because the only other way to beat PCM is at your local court.

    We have a 99% defended cases win rate and no CCJ risk, no huge costs, not so bad.

    But MUCH easier to press that complaint and threaten to remove your business, and point out they are using a rogue trader who failed to allow any grace period or any loading/unloading exemption.

    This fine came in the post, with photos etc. They must of had camera’s everywhere. I will be complaining but first I want the fine squashed. Fingers crossed.
