Is it unprofessional to wear gloves at work?! Lovely and toasty under my desk, but as the room is so big, anything above the desk (e.g. my hands) isn't really getting warm!

I sit next to a window with air vents on the floor at work and while it's nice to have daylight it's also very often cold! I have been known to surreptitiously cover the air vents with newspaper but then I worry the building is going to blow up. Mostly I try to dress very warmly. The advantage is you don't have to plan that many layers as whatever is good outside getting from the station to work is also okay at my desk! Anyway whether it's unprofessional or not, SSDD23, really your employers ought to keep the place warm, so if gloves help, seriously, wear them xx :)
  • I agree with cathybird wear gloves if it helps you, I hate being cold xx

I hate being cold too, Purplemumof2, it's just no fun at all - being comfortable at work is important!

Thanks cathybird :D (always nice to see a new face on a diary)
  • Happy Wednesday (she says having been fully convinced until seeing no one else had put their bin out, that it was Thursday :rotfl:)

I have brought gym gear with me, so I will just go on the way home rather than falling into the trap of sitting down at home "just to rest" and then not moving for the rest of the night! It is literally smack bang on my route home, so no excuses!

Got up early this morning to try and get back into the routine of getting some tidying done - stuck our bedding in the wash on a delay timer to put on the radiators after the gym, and did most of the washing up. Our room is starting to smell a bit funky where the bedding has been on for a while, we have the washing bin in our room, and never open the window (as our radiator doesn't work*) so tackling those issues tonight.

    * I have spent ages trying to sort this out, finally got the plastic twisty valve off the other day and loosened the pin which was stuck down a bit, and the radiator heated up beautifully, so I turned off the heating as it had been on boost, and when the timer kicked back in, no heat  I am going to bleed ALL of the radiators tonight after the gym and try the valve again, if that doesn't work then I officially give up and someone is going to have to come and take a look, as it's the wrong time of year to not have a radiator working in the bedroom! I was so proud when I thought I had fixed it :rotfl:

Going to be a NSD today, bought my lunch with me and won't be leaving work on my lunch break, then just going to the gym and sitting at home after, so no spends to be had!

Currently waiting for PayPal to sort itself out, there was a scheduled payment that didn't go out to them as my online wages came late in the day, and then to pay in apparently takes 5 working days, my bank is showing the scheduled money being paid to them, the same payment (I am assuming) requested by them again having gone out, and my PayPal balance still showing a minus :rotfl: oh well it'll clear eventually lol
  • Happy Wednesday SSDD, at least you didn't think it was Saturday....lol

Grr to the heating, I hope that bleeding the radiators works, it could be trapped air.

    Have a great day xx

SSDD23, I know it's an expense, but it's quite useful having one of those little oil-filled radiators for situations where the heating doesn't work - the central heating/boiler always seems to break down in the winter when it's really cold! You can move the little radiators from room to room because they're on wheels and they're quite cheap to run. It's just a useful backup. :)
  • I am a great believer in a squirt of WD40 for most things that stick.
All that clutter used to be money
