I personally would not work Christmas Day for £50 an hour because Christmas is special to me. As it is I have to work Boxing Day (I only work in a shop) and am absolutely furious about it. Why the hell do people feel the need to go shopping on Boxing Day?The world is over 4 billion years old and yet you somehow managed to exist at the same time as David Bowie0

I live in Darlo and for some reason unemployable so i'd bite their hands off but thats just me,:D it's a lot of money to pass up if you can afford to i think your kids are at that age where they wont mind if you work and you could always have christmas day on boxing day like some others have said:starmod:If you dance with the devil, the devil don't change. The devil changes you:starmod:0

Oh catkins, I so agree with you. Why oh why are the shops now opening on Boxing day?
I am retired, I am not religious so it doesnt affect me, I just think it is so unfair on shop workers.Away with the fairies.... Back soon0 -
I'm a nurse too and have worked quite a few Christmas days, but the money was never as great as £612! We always shifted Xmas day to boxing day too, but now we have an 18 month old I wouldn't work christmas day for £1000, its too special for us. Your kids are older so I would do as has been said and take a family vote.0

With that offer and the age of your kids, if hubby and kids are fine, I'd go!!
You'll still have the rest of the evening. Our Christmas time starts at 6am and ends, well, it ends when we finally fall asleep wherever that may be! LOL."I did then, what I knew then. And when I knew better, I did better"0 -
Cheers All
Had a family meeting and work it is with Christmas lunch postponed to Boxing day.
Work will be slow as its just taking emergency calls,
Money will pay for a Family Long Weekend later in the year, (I am allowed to cash in the extra holiday days for money).
Thanks for all the comments nice to hear many different ideas,
CheersOver 100k miles of Electric Motoring and rising,0 -
Hubby and kids could make a late dinner ready for when you get back and then after christmas you could take one of your extra days off, sneak kids out of school and spend some of that extra cash. Just an idea.0

Would you work on Christmas day.
I'm an Ambulance Technician and I have to work 12 hours Christmas day. 06.00 to 18.00
I have small children, but I have no choice in the matter. And I won't be getting anything near what you will get, so I say go for it!
I will miss my kids opening their pressies, but I do go back to my house if I have half hour. That way I get to see the kids, and they get to see the Ambulance, which always makes their day.
We leave a few gifts for Boxing day, I love it as I get to see the kids open a few of their pressies. It's like an after Christmas Christmas!Real Mums don't have to go to Iceland, They can flippin well cook!!0 -
