  • Aww thank you everyone ❤️
We still can't quite believe we've managed to do it but it is indeed a fantastic feeling (although we both have a sore head this morning after having 2 bottles of wine between us to celebrate last night 😉)
Had our weigh in this morning, I've lost 1lb & DH 2lbs. I thought I'd struggle as haven't been as active this week so will aim to move more over the next 7 days!
Hope everyone is well, stay safe xx

  • Back to earth with a bang today as the audit commenced at work today 🙁 first day has gone well so hope that had set the tone for the week.
NSD yesterday and today, just waiting on DH being paid on Friday and then we can start the budget afresh again.
We're both off on Friday and the forecast looks good so we're looking to see if there's anything we feel comfortable taking the boys to for a bit of family time, will be good to spend a day together as we won't have much opportunity this week.
Hope Monday's treating everyone kindly x

Many congratulations, your perseverance has really paid off

  • Thank you @Bubblesmum I still don't quite believe it, I've lost count of how many times I've double checked our accounts the last few days 🤣

Another busy, long but productive day at work today. Came home to an overtired DS2, he'd refused his afternoon nap so was in a hysterical state for around an hour until he finally collapsed in a heap on his bed 😩.

DS2 helped DH cook supper while I settled DS1 and then decided he'd take himself off to bed too so I'm sat in a quiet room catching up on here while DH kills some time on his Xbox 🙂

Another NSD today, due to lack of time as much as anything else. Our cupboards are starting to look a little too bare but have an A$da delivery coming Thursday night, just need to update the order which I'll do tomorrow evening and we can make do in the meantime.

My petrol light came on while driving home but I'm car sharing with a colleague this week, I've done 2 days & she's doing the next 2 so I can leave the petrol top up for a couple of days. It's very odd both of us wearing masks in the car & having the windows down but needs must!

My car is booked in to get both front tyres replaced on Friday morning, they're getting close to the legal limit so need sorted, especially with the delayed MOT looming on the horizon.

Other than that not a lot happening!

Hope  everyone else is well x

  • Hi, well this is the first '1st of the month' when we haven't made a CC payment in 7 years

However, since my last post, we have spent a LOT of money :(
Front tyres are done but it was highlighted that my brake pads are worn so I've booked an MOT and Service for later this month rather than September as planned.
The mattress topper we bought a week or two ago has helped but not resolved our mattress problem so have ordered a new one which is arriving on Thursday.
Took the boys to a local funfair yesterday, so that was a bit spendy. I was very impressed with the social distancing and sanitising procedures they had in place so we were able to relax and the kids thoroughly enjoyed themselves. It was so hot here yesterday that I imagine most people headed to the local coastal towns so there wasn't too many people around. I'd taken drinks and snacks but we couldn't resist the lure of the ice cream van, naught but nice!
Finally, it was DH's birthday yesterday so we went for a meal at a restaurant near us. Again I was impressed with the procedures in place so we were able to relax, the food was delicious and we enjoyed a couple of cocktails each.
I think it's done us all good to have some fun yesterday but we've got so used to not spending much money it feels like we've spent an absolute fortune. It's all been paid for from the budget or savings pots, just a lot at once!

In more positive news, £250 has gone into DH's regular saver today and we've topped up the EF by £50. Also tidied up the mortgage balance, current stats are:

    Savings - £3,000 (EF: £2000, RS: £1000)
    Debts - Mortgage £54,500

We're hoping to add more to the savings this month but are conscious that the car bill might be larger than previously hoped for plus we're hoping to have a couple more day trips with the boys, just not sure what yet, plus it's DS2's 2nd birthday this month so we're having 1 month of letting the budget be a little more fluid than usual to take a bit of pressure off before business as usual from September.

We then have some goals to work towards - First to get savings up to £5,000, ideally by the end of the year, before then making regular mortgage overpayments and investing into a S&S ISA from the start of 2021.

Hope everyone else is well xx
