***OMG DITR DEBT FREE ALERT!!!***
Kids went to bed early last night so DH and I sat and discussed finances.
End result was we decided to close the regular saver in my name and take some money out of the instant access EF and pay off the credit card.
Balance showing today = £0 👏👏👏
This leaves DH regular saver with £750 in it, will leave this open and continue to contribute £250 each month.
Instant Access EF now stands at £1950, this needs built back up - our new goal is to get this up to £5,000 before then looking at overpaying the mortgage and investing in a S&S ISA.
I honestly can't believe we've been able to do this, we're so unbelievably grateful that our circumstances have allowed this. There was an argument for keeping the savings but what finally swung it for us was the realisation we've been together for 9 years next week and we've never been debt free!
We've always played the 0% deals but decided to start our 10th year together owing nothing other than DH's student loan (around £9,000) & our mortgage (currently £54,700) so ding dong the credit card debt is gone 🤣
Thanks to everyone for supporting me on here, you're all fantastic! I'm going to keep the diary going as even though I change my mind every 5 minutes as to how to manage finances 😳 I am more disciplined in managing the budget when I update on here regularly.
Thanks everyone, I really have been kept on the straight & narrow since starting the diary xxx8 -
