Hi @Lookafterthepennies2020 It's called 'Christmas Gifts and Budget'. The image for the app is a red box wrapped with a white ribbon if that helps? X

  • Managed to get about 4 hours sleep in the end last night,t the male members of my household didn't hear a thing - unbelievable! Despite the lack of sleep I've had a productive day at work, I took a flask of strong coffee with me which definitely helped. Managed to grab a free parking space again so sent the £4 I would've spent on parking across to savings again, also sent a account tidy of £1.38. Picked up a click and collect grocery order on my way back from work and popped on to visit my niece as it's her birthday. I've got a day off tomorrow, no plans yet, I think it's wise to see if I manage a decent night's sleep or not first before making any decisions.
Hope everyone else is well x

Hello, just an observation re employment... the law has changed to last in, first out should not be followed. Everyone who has the same job title would be put at risk, and you all reapply, therefore if you can prove you have made a significant contribution, have the skills they need now ( and presumably as you are newer in you have)... you have every chance of remaining.

hope you have a lovely day off.
As a dear MSE friend says “keep plodding” or

Last in first out can however be used as long as this is combined with other scoring criteria’s.  If you have less than 2 years service however the process can vary and LIFO can be applied as the redundancy aims to provide protection of longer serving employees.

Thanks guys, you're both right but it's a niche little industry I work in and I've seen first hand how these companies manipulate the legalities of redundancy protocol to suit their own needs, mainly the fact that the longer term 'dinosaurs' who've been there for years on protected legacy contracts of employment who refuse to work across contracts are vastly more  expensive to make redundant than someone like myself despite my skills and performance.
It's just one of those things that although unfair and illegal from an employment law point of view it's a battle that can't be won so isn't  worth stressing too much about, just something to keep in mind when planning for the future.

Oddly the recession is good news for the company so I just need to get my head down and make hay while the sun shines so to speak.

I came back to this industry with my eyes wide open & will continue to do my best and take the money while I can!

To date it's help me pay off the debt at a much faster rate than I ever imagined and now I need to apply the same focus to savings to mitigate any possible loss of income should the worst happen.

In money saving news I was at the office again today and managed to grab free parking again so duly transferred £4 to savings. WFH tomorrow so hopefully fewer distractions as I have a pile of admin I'd like to clear before the week ends.

DH is under the weather, not sure if it's too much sun or a general stomach bug or a combination but he's struggling. Thankfully he's worked from home all week so has rested as much as possible in-between work tasks but he's taking a while to pull round.

As I was off yesterday I took the boys out with Mum to a large local cafe for lunch which we all enjoyed, especially at 50% off. As it was really hot again we spent the rest of the day at Mums keeping hydrates and eating ice creams and ice lollies while the boys played and Mum and I gossiped 😊 all very low key but lovely.

Also been to visit my brother and sister in law this evening for the first time since pre lockdown (have seen them from a distance but first time in
    their house/garden).

SIL is doing really well despite her chemo being on hold throughout lockdown, she had a CT scan recently and there's no sign of any regrowth of the brain tumour which is just the best news, she's an absolute trooper who's just determined to make the most of her up days, hence our visit - it was at her request.

Bit of a ramble tonight, sorry!
I'll go catch up on other diaries now, take care all x
