New PAC rules 01/07/2019
New OFCOM Mobile Auto Switching Regulation
What is it?
A new process for consumers to request single number PACs.
They will be able to request the following by sending a Free SMS:
▪ 65705 for a PAC
▪ 75075 for a STAC = a code to be submitted by the gaining provider which will
terminate on the specified date with the losing provider, usually so the gaining
provider can issue a new number.
▪ 85075 for INFO = out of contract date and any applicable fees if cancelled at the time
of the request.
Why is this being changed?
Following consultation OFCOM have decided that customers are finding it difficult to cancel
their services with their providers due to aggressive save techniques, additional notice
periods and charges. The automation of the request removes the need to speak to the supplier or for the supplier to ‘hold up’ any requests. Even though OFCOM recognise that not all providers behave in this way they still felt there was still a big enough problem to change the process for all.
When is it happening? From 1st July 2019

how strange on my call plan I cannot send SMS to a number (65705), those type of numbers are chargable , my plan has a £0 cap on it so that I do not incure excess charges above my monthly statement0

Text messages received from mobile shortcodes are either no charge or incur a premium of up to £10 per message. This may be a single charge or recurrent.0 -
This will be fun. I don't think PlusNet mobile supports short codes?0

No, they don't.
So you can't send the texts anyway.0 -

There is supposed to be an online request system as well.====0 -
Good luck with getting Plusnet to obey OFCOM rules about customers leaving.
Last October OFCOM made it mandatory for every communications company to have a web form for any customer to complaint about their service. Plusnet still haven't provided that for their mobile customers.0 -
Will there be a set message you have to send to the code?0
