As much as i totally agree and there is no need for the customer service staff to be rude to you, she did have a point.

What is the point of asking for carrots when you've already been told there is no carrots?

And why say that one activity pack is no good to you, and that u need 2, when you've already been told that they only have 1. What did u want her to do?

Okay she should apologise for the stuff that has ran out, and apologise for not telling you, but in the end, she was right, she cant just magic the stuff out of nowhere.

Personally i think they should have given you a part refund on your meal as it was incomplete.

However, the readiness to complain straight to headoffice is getting ridiculous in Britain at the moment. The only reason people do it, is to see what money they can get back and this is backed up by the OP saying she was not happy with a written apology.

Now if you are in a restaurant and you see the chef spitting in food, by all means complain to head office, as it would mean he would get sacked. That is a vailid reason for escalating your complaint to head office.

But why bother calling head office when a restaurant has simply ran out of something, it happens! Maybe they were unexpectedly busy earlier. What is writing to head office going to achieve? Restaurants like to run a tight ship in order to make the most profit.

Yes, the head office may tell the restaurant to ensure they have a good availabilty of all their food, but they probably wont because, if they prepare too much in the morning, it means it goes to waste at night

Time cant be turned back, and she cannot magic up stuff she doesnt have. There is nothing you can do, except try to negotiate a refund or part refund at the time.

I also wondered why you asked twice. How did you expect carrots to suddenly appear? I think she probably thought that was the only way to make you understand!

What would someone need to say to explain to you that they actually have no carrots if you asked more than once and was told the first time?

The OP ordered roast dinners with vegetables which were not supplied as advertised. If you care to read the first post it states "then served 5 roast dinner but only vegtable was peas so i questioned this they said we do not have any other vegtables like advertised brocolli and carrots so i said if i would have known that you did not have any i would have gone else where"

If the bonehead who took the order told the OP they had no veg except for peas he would not have bought 5 meals. Just like when if you go to Wetherspoons and buy a steak only to find out it is made from Zebu, they don't put that on the menu either:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

    Tight Old Git

Yes i did read the OPs post, and i do see what he/she is saying about going elsewhere for dinner if they had known.

But the point i was making was....

Why ask for carrots when you've just been told that they dont have any.
And why say you need 2 colouring books when they just told you they only have 1?

If they dont have it, they dont have it!

And also, why is the person who took the order a bonehead? Just because they work in a pub? A job is a job at the end of the day. As you have maybe guessed i work in a restaurant, and take great offence to customers who think i am stupid because i wait tables. I am a qualified nurse, have just completed a degree, and have applied to do another next year.

    How very judgemental of you!

Have you considered that maybe the kitchen ran out of the veg in between the customer ordering and getting their food, therefore the server would have no way of knowing

Dead right LaaLaa - ever tried getting served in a "non-muppet" organisation 10 mins before closing time..? Of course, people who work in pubs and restaurants should stay open until the customers want to go home, should be pleasant to the arrisoles, and will always be wrong because the 9-5ers (rolf, generally 10 till 11:30, 14:00 till 17:00 ishers) KNOW THEIR RIGHTS (but by and large are to$$ers).

ps - I don't work in pubs, but doing a few stand-in barman stints to help a mate out was certainly an eye-opener. Maybe a few of the peeps who think it's money for jam should give it a go?

The funny thing is it takes a certain amount of intelligence to think of things like this!

Your average knowitall who comes out with "If the bonehead who took the order told the OP" or something along the same lines won't think of these things.

I must be a muppet too. I used to work for Wetherspoons-and I too have a degree. They were brilliant to work for when I could only work school hours a nd had to care for my Mum after her brain anurism as well as my son.
And yes some staff are morons and some customers are !!!!!! and vice versa. Most of the staff however do work hard even when staffing levels are stupidly low. I've run a whole bar-serving drinks and food solo before now when someone has called in sick (the manager was in the kitchen doing the food) and yes you guessed it-that's the shift the mystery shopper came in !! Believe me area managers DO follow up LOL
I do agree that if something isn't available (usually because an order has arrived late) it's a bit pointless to ask for it twice-Morons don't do magic !!
The vast majority of Wetherspoons customers were very pleasent-and appreciated they weren't paying a fortune and that any kitchen can have problems regardless-however there are also the ones who are LOOKING for a reason to complain and get a free meal and those often make unreasonable requests (like magic carrots) so maybe the manager mistook the OP for one of those !

Here is Ayr, just used here as was replying to your post about this crappy little place. I dunno if it's a chain or just a popular name.

You may have noticed this is the Consumer Vent board, not the board for singing the praises of your ex-employer. When a customer orders a steak at Wetherspoons, how many times does the server tell the customer that he/she is getting Zebu or is the server party to the deception 100% of the time? And what sort of eating establishment runs out of veg:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: but carries on selling roasts - not everyone likes peas, but they are happy to take your money under false pretences before telling the customer they cannot deliver on what was paid for.

If you wanna eat some Zebu, go to Wetherspoons......
