Hi I was in a weatherspoons in Bridgend wales. We were going to go for an Indian in a really good restaurant but we were hungry and the restaurant didnt open until 6.00. It was just gone 3.00 and Weatherspoons had a deal on that day after 3.00. It was a delicious looking curry, naan bread (which I love forget the rice) pompadoms and a stainless steel dish with mango chutney. Well along comes this curry, no pompadoms, no nan bread and the curry was cold. So I called the waiter over and he took the curry away and came back 15 minutes later with the curry and the rice was still on the table frozen. No probs I said I will just have the Naan bread anyway. We dont have any he said we are sold out. As the offer had just started and we were the first ones in the restaurant I said they could not have sold out. I asked to speak to a manager and she said pretty much the same as the response you got. I cant make them appear out of midair. I said but today is your curry day and it is early in the day and it is advertised. She shrugged and said too bad. I asked for her manager and she said she was it. I asked for the manager of the whole place and she said he's not in. I asked for his name and the pubs telephone number she went a bit greenish. Then I asked for head office and she went poisitively puckish colour. She said she would refund us the money for the meal and did we want a dessert on the house and another drink while we were waiting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Moral of the story ask their name, ask for their boss and his boss. The squeaky wheel gets the oil. Hubby got 2 pints I got 2 coffees we got a horrible curry each but had the most expensive desserts on the menu (we had to have something to fill us up) Taffy Still would not go back to Weatherspoons it is rubbish.0

I work in a restaurant and these stories drive me crazy, why do people work in the SERVICE industry if they dont want to serve? They give all the hardworking ones a bad name, i get really embarrassed if something is genuinely wrong with someones food and do my upmost to fix it. If there is something not on the menu, the customer needs to be informed before they order!! And i would also not eat in wetherspoons, did anyone else read about them using meat from that weird south american humped animal and passing it off as beef??The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0

I think there are good and bad one's, and unfortunately the high turn over low cost aims of the industry mean you're more likely to get a monkey serving you for your peanuts.
I have been to Wetherspoons and nearly gone through the entire menu with them saying they don't have any of each the menu items I asked for. Why couldn't they have just said what they in fact *did* have from the start?! or have some sort of sign up? Happened twice at that particular Wetherspoons and means they won't be getting me going there for food so they've lost a customer.0 -
boo hoo weatherspoons i phoned them they will send a written apology they can ram it0

As soon it arrives and it is not up to scratch - return it and ask for a refund. Do not attempt to parlay or negociate with them, DEMAND A REFUND. Cash or a refund to your card if you used one. I never accept bad food if I am paying. You are entitled to it if it is not fit for purpose. The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett

I went to our local Wetherspoons, ordered the pasta and meatballs, the meatballs were cold, they took it away, reheated it and gave it back, which meant the meatballs were now warm, but the pasta was so overdone it was inedible. All I got was an apology letter. but never dared to order that again.
There's a lovely bar/restaurant down the road, but OH refuses to go in because the roast was disgusting (vinegary mash), but every other time it's been fine, so to Wetherspoons we always go..."Beautiful young people are accidents of nature, But beautiful old people are works of art."

The one thing i particularly dislike about this kind of chain, is the fact that you need to pay in advance for food that could be diabolical! Then you're stuck in the position of trying to negotiate a refund with some half wit who doesnt give a toss. You would be in a much better position to get something done about the rubbish food if you hadnt already paid for it, once they have your money they really dont care:mad:The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0

Ever wonder if thats why they get you to pay in advance....if you order a meal somewhere and its rubbish, you can complain and refuse to pay....let them call the police and take details, its then up to them to pursue you through the courts for payment....Wetherspoons take the money first...otherwise it would cost them a fortune in lost food OR court feesI'm now a retired teacher... hooray ...:j

I've had bad experiences in Wetherspoons and normally what you find out later is that the dirt/mess is the aftermath of some unexpected heavy night the day before (for example a stag do passing through etc) and quite often some bar staff on that night will pre-warn their friends who are doing the morning after shift about how bad it is and they go off sick. Leaving the manager with a filthy pub and no staff.
Granted that doesn't excuse her behaviour but might be the reason for it.0
