My son is supposed to be Completing on 1st October. No mention of MCHLG (never heard of it)

We were told they had all the appropriate certificates!

How did things go, was your son able to complete?

Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government. I also believe the cladding went up after the guidance change which shows more negligence (or just incompetence as they keep demonstrating) from the developer.

Have you had any further updates on this?

Completed on 1st October along with a batch of 18 other new owner/renters.

Helped him successfully move in over the last few days.

I have to say it's a nice flat, perfect for him and it's also a nice block.

Need to start a residents WhatsApp group to get the community spirit going. Also to share any issues or concerns people might have.

They given him some paperwork including EPC certificate - Rating 81

Nothing to do with fire safety. There must have been a Fire Risk Assessment done, surely?
It's got lots on smoke, heat detectors, alarms and a sprinkler system. Decent fire doors throughout, although I'm no expert in knowing how good they are.
The cladding doesn't look like plastic or aluminium to me, more of a fibrous material that looks like asbestos (but obviously isn't)

  • I imagine those who had offers valid till completion have been ok as the property wouldn't have been rechecked by the valuer.

Anyone whose mortgage offers expired after the new changes on cladding reports came in and have had to reapply are going to be hit with needing the new cladding reports which appear to be almost impossible to get at the moment

Officially in February apparently, but lenders seem to have only started applying it strictly since July.
  • I agree.

It seems to have become a major issue with lenders since July.

  • My son got his mortgage offer in May/June so just missed it I guess

  • Have you found out any more regarding this or got your mortgage offer yet? I'm waiting to get my mortgage through but still waiting for this fire report.. they said to give them a couple of days.. is this a lie?
  • Hey where did you get this info from? I'm going to make some angry calls tomorrow. Noone has kept me in the loop at all.
