My son used the recommended solicitor. Seemed a good idea at the time.
The one person on the buyer's side in the entire process... so what could possibly go wrong with hiring somebody who paid the vendor to get your business...?
  • Point taken (slaps wrist) but the solicitor has done nothing wrong as far as I know.

It's not about them, it appears to be fire risk assessment issue, before that it was cladding contractors.

  • So having been told the Show Flat at the sales office for Hale Point is the exact dimensions of the real flat we've found it's not.

They might say we bought off-plan and therefore should have looked at the plan but we believed what we were told about the show flat.

'Come and measure up as often as you want'

Hall, bedroom and bathroom all lost some space.

    Great views though.

  • Plus the Hyperoptic broadband router is in the hall cupboard with no cabling to other rooms.

1Gb broadband restricted to WiFi speeds unless we run new cables.

    How f**king stupid is that?

That is very annoying - I went to view it, and asked the size question, and was told the differences in size will be negligible. It's still a lovely development though.

Out of curiosity, will it actually be ready to move in next month? That's what put me off reserving. The other building, they claimed in early Aug, would be ready in November, lol, the scaffolding was still up so I was dubious about the timing they claimed for Hale Point too.

We were told the show flat was exactly the same dimensions and I can't see why it wasn't built accurately unless they are incompetent, and/or trying to deceive us.

It is still a nice development and we stopped looking at others because we were sucked in by the size of the hall, bathroom and bedroom.

It is pretty much finished as far as I can see. It's hard to believe any dates they mention but I would say late Sept or Early Oct for moving in.

Looks like the scaffolding is coming down on Hutton Court.

BTW they are having to reduce the prices because the mortgage lenders don't agree with the valuation.

Did you not see scaled or dimensioned floorplans of the building? Or measurements of each flat?

Interesting re: prices and mortgage valuations, I did notice some of the drops, and wondered if it was the final push to get the last few sold!

It has the layout with limited measurements in the brochure.

The show flat is the Pearl, one bedroom.

Note that there are no dimensions for the hall and bathroom.
I reckon the left had wall in the show flat is further to the left.

Had the salesmen not told us the show flat was identical we might have been more circumspect. We were directly misled.

  • You can try the virtual tour from the link in my previous post.

If you go right into the bathroom then look back to the hall you will see a portion of wall to the left of the bathroom door. On the floor is a basket of towels.

All very nice but in the real flat that bit of wall does not exist. Yes, it's closer to what is in the brochure but what are we supposed to believe.

This virtual tour has no caveats or warnings about inaccurate layout. It is taken in the show flat.
