The primary school job sounds great! Pity about the pay cut, but if it covers the bills and makes you happier... and it’s a foot in the door too. Fingers crossed!

Unless you have something majorly wrong with your eyesight, I’m sure it would be fine. My dad has very limited vision in one eye and drives; my DH has very bad astigmatism and glasses correct it; and I am very short-sighted - glasses do wonderful things! :D

    Thanks TMV!!
I have an astigmatism as well. I'm thinking it's just lack of confidence more than anything and I'm just making excuses! X

A better day at work which was nice. I got a reply from the primary school job saying they'd received my application so fingers crossed! I applied for another job, I feel better now I'm being proactive. If I want things to change, that's up to me!

I got my payslip today which included the £250 staff referral bonus for bf getting his job! Yay!! I'm thinking about easing up on the mortgage overpayments and putting more into my emergency fund for a bit just in case I get fired for slapping someone at work! Lol

Good luck with the job applications but don’t get disheartened at the ones that never reply. I just considered it rude but that I’d had a lucky escape! I’ve only got sight in one eye, born that way, but I’ve been driving for 33 years.

Hi everyone! Hope you're all having a nice weekend?!

Not a bad one here, I had Friday off work for the opticians in the morning, I spent £400! This included a very thorough eye test, a pair of glasses with the lenses thinned and an anti-reflective layer, and a pair of sunglasses with the lenses thinned down. The frames for both were on sale so not expensive, it was the lenses that cost me a fortune but these should last a few years and my eyes are important! On the plus side, I was told that with my new prescription I can read double what I need to to be able to pass the vision requirements for driving so learning to drive is definitely on the cards now! The rest of the day was spent cleaning, chilling out and then an appointment with the nurse late afternoon.

My mortgage payment of £353.21 came out, taking the total to £67,546.79 so I've made an overpayment of £46.79. I'll see how the finances are towards the end of the month as I will hopefully be able to make another overpayment.

The emergency fund is now up to £2100. I would like to get to £5K by the end of the year, providing I don't need to actually use it this should be doable.

We're doing a bit of matched betting this weekend and are set for a profit of about £50. I cashed out £5 from Swagbucks which I will use towards another bet.

We bought some candle wicks this weekend as we are wanting to combine the leftovers of a couple of candles to make a nice new one, waste not, want not! I did also buy a new handbag (my old one had a train ticket in from 2013 so it's lasted a good 7 years+!) and two pairs of flip flops - £28 altogether, I don't spend a huge amount on myself so I think the glasses, handbag and flip flops are acceptable. Oh, I did also buy a little tupperware pot for £1 in an attempt to encourage me to eat more fruit by taking it to work in my little pot.

The only downside to the weekend has been that I've been full of cold! BF has told me it's because I've stressed myself out too much with work and made myself poorly, I've had firm instructions to not give a fiddle (I have censored what he really said, as it's Sunday :rotfl:) about work and just do what I can and not stress. I will do my best, keep applying for jobs and see what happens!

    Take care

    Thanks Cheery and TMV!! :)

I'm feeling a lot better today, cold wise and I've gone in to work with a positive attitude. My morning has had a lot of things go wrong, but I can rest easy knowing that I've done everything I can!

I've decided to just hold off the driving lessons until I know the outcome of the primary school job which will be by the end of February anyway. If I don't get it, I will be applying for my provisional licence but I will do some research on driving instructors in the area in the meantime. BF has said he is happy for me to drive his car when i pass, so that's good of him.

Soup for lunch today and we'll be having an omelette with some left over veg for tea tonight.

Received my T3sc0 clubcard statement today with £6.50 worth of vouchers, that'll come in handy for when I do the shopping next week.

We'll be doing some more matched betting tonight, we made £75 altogether yesterday :D
