Just had a read though your diary and have to say how well you have coped with all the changes in your life and are so focused on overpaying your mortgage. It is a shame that you don't enjoy your work and you are doing the right thing in looking out for something else but it may take a bit longer than you imagine for another suitable job to come along, so try to think of ways of making this job as bearable as possible in the meantime. Think of all the positives, being so close to home, a decent salary, nice people to work with. There is never going to be the perfect job so you have to weigh up what is most important to you. Would a long journey not cause you as much stress as you are feeling just now. You need to be clear in your mind what is most important to you and what you are willing to compromise on. As for the school job, I would second what someone else has said, it is almost certain that someone has been doing the job temporarily and was probably lined up for it. That is the way it works in schools in my experience so I wouldn't take it personally. I am sure something will come up eventually and in the meantime just enjoy all the benefits and focus on the good things.4

Aw Jessy I'm so sorry about the job
please don't be disheartened, it may be as simple as someone else just having 6 months more experience than you. Can you drop them an email asking for feedback?
As for whether to keep looking - why not? Applying is good practice, your CV will just get better and better as you go along and eventually you WILL be offered something else! Xx3 -

Paid £100 off the mortgage today to cheer myself up. New total is £67,400. My savings account is now at £5005, with £2800 allocated for the new boiler. I'll be honest, I'm finding it really difficult not to transfer £1k of that to my mortgage!! I know I need to be sensible and have an emergency fund though so my target of £5k by the end of the year is doable.
BF and I have been talking about our targets moneywise. I'm looking to pay off this mortgage by the time I'm 40, so in 6 years, as well as a nice savings account of 10k+. As BF's name isn't on the mortgage he is saving his money for our next house which will be a joint mortgage. His target is £5k a year, so hopefully a nice healthy deposit of £30k+ when we come to move. The diddy bungalow we live in was on the market for over a year so we don't want to have to rely on selling it to be able to buy our next house.
It was nice to make plans for the future and has given me a good reason to keep keeping on at my pants job!
