T3sc0 came last night, no toilet rolls (shocker!), no baked beans, no spaghetti hoops, no pineapple or grapes and no cheese!!!!! The cheese is probably the one I'm most upset about, I do love a cheese and onion toastie at the weekend. I shall go to the C0 0p after work and see if I can get my missing items from there. If not, we're having tea at my parents tonight so may steal some of their things!
I've now been told at work that I need to bring the laptop I use there home with me every night, in case work closes and I need to work from home. Not sure what the plan is for BF in the factory because if that shuts due to the coronavirus, he can't bring windows and doors home to work on!
Starting to wonder if my money is better off in my savings account than paying off the mortgage for the unforeseeable future because of the uncertainty at the moment. Although, you have to carry on as normal for the time being, I suppose.
We shall see what tomorrow brings!
Take care

We had a lovely weekend away on the Suffolk coast celebrating BF's son's birthday. It's not for another 2 weeks but with it being Mother's Day this weekend and then his actual birthday the weekend after, he will be with his mum. The chalet we stayed in was small but had everything we needed and a 2 minute walk down onto the beach, the dogs had a great time too! Not much money spent as I took a lot of stuff I had already in the cupboards with us, we managed to find a P1zz4 Hut deal on their website for £25 for tea Saturday night and did a small shop at M0rris0ns for a birthday cake, the only other thing was to fill the car up. Well worth it and we will definitely stay there again (I left it as clean as tidy as I possibly could when we left so they'll let us back! lol)
Looking forward to payday next week, I will only be making a small overpayment on the mortgage next month and putting the majority in savings just in case the Corona virus means I miss out on work and being paid in anyway. I think this has made me realise the need for an emergency fund now, more than ever!

Well, no working from home for me! We got an email from the M.D. this morning saying our company is not set up for working from home and wouldn't be productive or make a profit. This is utter bull poop! They're perfectly capable of getting people set up working from home as they already have half of the office staff set up, they just can't be bothered to sort the rest of us out and/or assume if we do work from home we won't do any actual work. I think now its inevitable that I will end up catching it, as one of the fitters who works in London is now self isolating and one of the guys in the factory has a daughter who possibly has it. It's made me dislike my company even more, the email made it sound like they care more about profits than the staff, which I understand in one way because if there's no profit there's no way of paying us but they're not trying in any way to keep us safe! Oh, tell a lie, we have one box of tissues to share between five of us!
Sorry, rant over! I'm just starting to worry about getting it and passing it on unintentionally to someone more vulnerable, like my mum or grandparents.
Our shops, like everyone else's are empty. I think I'm just going to have to do little trips to the C0 0p just to try and get a few bits as and when we need them, which I don't think will be very mse but atm there's not a lot of choice. I have plenty of tins in the cupboard and food in the freezer so enough for lunches and teas for a couple of weeks.
Me and bf have 6k in savings which will cover us for several months if necessary but £2800 was assigned to the new boiler which will have to be put on hold if required. I have to think myself lucky in this regard as I know there will be a lot of people out there who will be a lot worse off financially than us.
Take care of yourselves and each other x

I found myself roaming the aisles in two different shops on the way home this evening, buying stuff just because it was there - the excitement at finding a loaf of bread, the last bag of potatoes and 1kg of pasta....! No idea what everything I harvested will actually make, but felt the need to get SOMETHING in case the stocks get worse again 😯

I know exactly what you mean SC. I don't want to contribute to the panic buying but I'm worried if I don't buy it while I'm there, I won't be able to get it again. I also think, what if my grandparents need something because they can't get out, I could give it to them if needs be!

That sounds very poor from your company, Jess, but take heart that the guy who is self-isolating may just have a cough or the flu (and if he's self-isolating there's less likelihood of you getting ill with either of those too). Do you think the government measures might make the company more confident about not collapsing and therefore amend its approach?Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days
