I wish it would vix, but I think they've just got their heads firmly planted in the sand!
I told my supervisor that no, we can't do 100% of our jobs from home but we could do 50%, so why not have two people in in the morning, while the other two work from home and then swap in the afternoon, thus reducing the risk somewhat. I know that if I worked from home in the morning it would be very productive as I wouldn't be getting interrupted by phone calls or people coming in the office. Unfortunately, it seems to have fallen on deaf ears and the fact that we live and work in a village means that they think it's not going to make it's way here, which is just ridiculous!
I'm trying to stay on the positive side and be grateful that I still have a job, I'm still getting paid and I can save more money for the emergency fund next week when we get paid.
I'll be walking the dogs round to my grandparents house later so that I can post my Nan's Mother's Day card through the letter box, I'm hoping this will help in a little way to keep her spirits lifted while in lockdown! Does anyone else buy cards for Nan's/Gran's on Mother's Day and Grandad's on Father's Day? BF thought that it was really strange that I did, but when my dad left when I was 8 and my brother 10, my grandparents looked after us a lot while my mum worked, so I always get them one. Although I don't suppose it's very mse to be buying cards for everyone!
Lunch was tomato soup with a cheese topped roll (we went to get a loaf of bread from the c0 0p but there wasn't any, we did manage to get a pack of 4 of cheese topped rolls and some w4rburt0ns thins instead) Tea will be pie, mash and mushy peas.
Got the council tax bill today. Completely forgot that I'd get a 'rest' for March so that payment amount can go straight in to the EF.
Take care x

That sounds utterly ridiculous on the part of the company! And it's so true that people are more efficient when they work from home - far fewer interruptions! (Which is why I never feel too bad if I only work a morning - I figure if I was in an office the same amount of work would expand to fill the whole day!)
I certainly remember getting a Mothers' Day for my Nan when I was younger and until she died I always gave her the flower I got given at church (Mothers' Day is standard Brownie church parade). If they played a big part in your upbringing then I think that's perfectly reasonable!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Don't tell anyone, but I'm really looking forward to working from home. No driving (I normally average about 400 miles a week), no faffing about with hair and make-up, no 45-minute (minimum) commute each way - and no idiotic conversations in the background that I end up getting drawn into. They'll probably end up getting more hours out of me because I'll still end up waking up at the normal time so will probably just log on and (still) won't take an hour lunch break - I'm going to be so productive! Seriously though, if you don't need to physically interact with other people and have access to a laptop and phone, they should be allowing you the choice of working from home. I'm sorry they're being so inflexible 😡
And I think the idea of cards for extended family is lovely. £2 on a card is nothing and it will really brighten their day. Enjoy them while you can ❤Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

Thanks Vix and SC, I'm very jealous of your working from home!
Just before I left work, we got an email from the IT manager asking us to do a speed test of our broadband at home for the ongoing contingency plan of working from home!! I'm so blooming confused! Now I just think my company couldn't run a bath! LolMortgage Balance as of July 2025 £14,900.

Not a lot to report moneywise, I've been making TTs to my savings accounts after a DD has gone out and when the interest gets added on to the mortgage this coming week, I will do a small overpayment to round it down. What's left in my current account when I get paid on Friday will go into savings and what I would use to overpay my mortgage usually will go in there too. I think it's best to build up the EF in these uncertain times.
Me and bf caught up on Martin Lewis's coronavirus special and I have to say, I wish I hadn't watched it. I found myself quite upset and really worried by the end of it. There's so many unknowns and I'm scared for my family, our jobs and losing everything. I know that sounds quite dramatic but I think the seriousness of the situation just hit me and I wasn't ready for it! I know we are in a good position compared to a lot of people, with us still being in work for the time being and money in savings, so I'm trying to be positive!
I dropped my nan's mother's day card round today, she tried to come from the living room into the hall to greet me and I told her off. We had a quick chat from different rooms, I told her to ring us if her and grandad needed anything, that I loved them both and then rushed off! She said that they had had a lot of offers of help from neighbours which was really nice to hear. The dogs were quite upset they weren't allowed to go in and see my grandparents as they usually get a rich tea biscuit from them.
We haven't really done a lot today because we are trying to social distance, so we did the washing, cleaned the house and then watched some films on netflix. It was really nice to be lazy and not feel guilty for not going out and doing something!

I think it's better to be scared, but aware of the dangers, rather than oblivious and making mistakes that may lead to catching it.
I've taken somebody elses Mantra to heart.... 'It is what it is, but we'll get through it' ((hugs))I Believe.....
That it isn't always enough, to be forgiven by others.

I forgot to mention we had chips from the chip shop last night, I think they tasted even better than usual! We wanted to go because we're not sure how much longer they will be open for, the one pub we have left in the village that does lovely meals as well closed Friday night and I'm sure takeaways won't be far behind. Sad times
My plan today is to actually be productive! I have been inspired by South_Coast so I want to sort through my paperwork and shred stuff I don't need anymore. I'll also pop round to drop my mum's mother's day card and present off. I've started a new book called Man at the Helm by Nina Stibbe so I want to read a few chapters of that, my plan is to get through all my unread books this year (I have quite a few so may take more than a year!) and either sell them on music magpie/ziffit or give them to the village library and then instead of buying books anymore, support the library by going there. I also have a Merry Christmas cross stitch that I started but never finished so might get some more of that done and use it this year! Plenty to be getting on with
Lunch will be jacket potato and coleslaw and for tea, I'm thinking pizza and onion rings, yummy!

Chrystal is right, Jess, we will get through it. But it is scary, especially when you compare it to what normal life looked like 2-3 weeks ago!
I’m hoping takeaway food won’t be closed (unless complete lock down is required). - it’s literally the only thing to look forward to, a night off from cooking! Especially now National Trust have decided to close their parks and gardens as well.
Enjoy your pizza and onion rings - sounds lovely!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days
