Thank you very much everyone! ❤
Well, we've had two Christmas dinners in two days to use up the food I brought with us and we will have plenty of food to last us until we go home Wednesday. Unfortunately, we haven't been able to get out as much as we had hoped because of the weather, just short trips but it's been lovely and relaxing. Quite frugal as well!
Taking inspiration from cheery's new diary a frugal January and 2022 is on the cards for us too, but we have decided that covid permitting that we will have another holiday in the summer with the dogs because we do need to enjoy life too!Mortgage Balance as of July 2025 £14,900.

We've arrived back safely in Lincolnshire.
Was a very stressful journey though, as the other day a warning came on in the car saying there was an issue with the push stop/start button, but as the car seemed to be starting and running fine we figured we'd be ok until we got home and could take it to the local dealer we had bought it from. Well, of course all packed up and ready to leave this morning and the car won't start! Not a great time, 300 miles from home!! Luckily where we were staying the owner is a farmer that fixes his cars a lot, so he was able to jump start us, and we could get going, but then ensued a very nerve wracking 5.5 hour trip home with only one stop where we kept the car running and took it in turns to pop to the loo. Anyway, we're home safe, all unpacked, washing on the go and the car booked in for tomorrow.
My parents had popped round to drop off my budgie that they were looking after for us and left us an engagement card and a bottle of prosecco, which was lovely of them.
While BF is at the garage tomorrow I think I will de-Christmas the house and all being well with the car BF will be picking up boyo to visit from Friday to Monday. Best make sure I have plenty of food in! 😂Mortgage Balance as of July 2025 £14,900.

I've really enjoyed catching up on your diary. Huge congratulations.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!3 -
Hope the car is sorted out ok, that must have been a stressful journey home!MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁2

What a palaver with the car, hope they can sort it out for you tomorrow. Looking forward to following along with your frugality (I'm not ruling out a holiday for us either!)

Thank you Watty, NG and Cheery 🙂
BF was able to start the car this morning and get it to the garage, they replaced the battery, but still getting error messages. We've got the car back with error messages, (the garage guy said at least we have a car then! Yes, a care we daren't use in case we get stuck somewhere!) Until they decide what part they want to replace next and then they will come to collect it. BF isn't pleased, understandably as he bought it brand new Sept 21.
Luckily BF's parents have said they will drop off boyo tomorrow and collect him Monday for us, so at least we will get to see him and I'm going to ask my nan very nicely if we could borrow her car for a trip out Saturday.
The interest of £153.59 has been added onto the mortgage, so I've overpaid the £53.59 to bring it down to a nice round £51,900 and still under my target of £52k for the year. Another box crossed off my chart! 😃
I've spent some money today, buying 2 pairs of jeans, a top and some new bedding, all required and will last as long as possible, as with all clothing and bedding I buy! I'm not counting it in my frugal January as it is still December 😂
House has been De-Christmased and cleaned. Washing is all done, so I can have a nice relaxing weekend before back to work Tuesday.Mortgage Balance as of July 2025 £14,900.

Happy New Year! I hope all your 2022 MFW dreams come true! 🙂
Off to a good start to 2022 already. The normal monthly payment for the mortgage was showing as coming off the total even though it hasn't actually come out my bank yet, but I've done an overpayment of £104.55 to bring it down to a nice round £51,500.
This means that I have paid off a grand total of £9,500 for 2021. Really happy with this and looking forward to more of the same this year. I now only have around £800 of my 10% allowance left until June, so the overpayments will start to reduce and I will put the money into savings until the 10% resets.
Last night was a quiet one, we went round to my parents house where they treated us to a chippy tea. We then came home at around 8pm and watched TV. I lasted until 11:30pm and then woke up at 1am, said Happy New Year to BF who was still awake watching TV and then promptly fell back asleep 😂
Today I've cleaned and decluttered our big corner kitchen cupboard, cooked another Christmas dinner to celebrate boyo being here and done 3 dog walks to get in my 10,000 steps.
My grandparents have kindly agreed to let us borrow their car tomorrow so we can go to the local shopping outlet as BF needs some new pants and jeans. His nan gave us £50 to celebrate our engagement with a nice meal, so we thought we would go to F&Bs with boyo while we are there.
