Hi Jessy, hope you are OK. I’ve been in my house 6 years next week and I’ve still loads to do. I’d hoped to have the study and my son’s room done by Christmas but that won’t happen. Waiting on the plasterer for the study so my revised aim is study by Christmas. Savings target sounds good, it always feels more comfortable with that cushion in place. I’m concentrating on savings too and not putting as much in overpayments as there is that fine balance to be found. I’ve very smuggly done all my Christmas shopping and paid for it all with the contents of my sealed pot; it’s a great feeling 😁SPC #023 SPC 12: £125.86[/COLOUR]:SPC 13: £214.98: SPC 14: £297.41 SPC 15: £237.27 SPC 16 £335.39; SPC 17 £662.09 SPC 18 £20MFW #21 Mortgage start Dec 2015 £79,950; June 2025 £19,394.00 2025 OP £1589/COLOR]/£2,000 MFiT T6 #3 £19070/£25,500 (72.82%%) MFiT T7 #3 £2050/£21,930 (9.34%)4

Thanks @Hettyhound and I hope you get the study done as planned 🙂
Well, we've had a lovely but spendy weekend! We went to our local garden centre yesterday where I ended up spending over £100! 😱 This included a couple of Christmas presents, a new coat for rescue dog, 2m of fluffy vet bed for the back seat of the car, so the dogs are more comfy when travelling, 2x dog advent calendars, dog toys and treats!
We then had a lovely trip to Hunstanton today where the dogs got to do zoomies on the beach and we stopped at the dog friendly cafe for hot chocolate and cake. Oh and the dogs shared a cheese and bacon scone!
Although I can't help thinking I should have used the money for an overpayment on the mortgage, it's all part of our trying to live our life more.
The food shop was delivered this evening and I've started putting things aside for our Christmas holiday to spread the cost. I'm just hoping restrictions won't be brought in and we still get to go.
Have a good week all! X

Little while since my last post, but nothing really to report!
The mortgage is now at £52,300. I may still hit my target of under £52k by the end of the year!
One more week at work and then we break up for Christmas and then Devon here we come! Well, as long as this new variant doesn't go mad and get us back in lockdown again. I have everything crossed that we will get there and have a lovely Christmas.
In other news, my brother has his own own joinery business and fits windows and doors, he's planning on expanding next year and has asked me if I want to run the office side of it for him. I'd be working from home until he gets a proper office in the village. It's a lot to think about. I would love to help my brother earn money as opposed to my current boss, but working with family could end in disaster! It's going to start by running alongside my current job, so it would give us some time to see how we get on!

How exciting Jessy! And how lovely to be asked too! I think it’s very wise to work alongside your existing job to start with - both to see how you get on and to be sure that the business can support both of you. But great news!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Thanks Vix! I am excited about it and like I say it would be nice knowing I'm helping to make money for my family instead of for a company who couldn't give two hoots about its staff!
Thanks SC. We're going near to Clovelly, it's a working farm that has converted some barns into little cottages. The dogs are going to love having the fields to run around and me and BF are looking forward to making use of the log burner. I have brought some special gingerbread hot chocolate and a nice cosy blanket to take with us 😃
I tried for the first time today a veggie lasagne in the slow cooker and it was really lovely. I think I'll give it a try with some quorn mince next time though to thicken it up a little more. There is some leftovers that we can have tomorrow too.
I've been told that we get paid next Tuesday, so I thought sod it, I'm paying off that £300 off the mortgage with the money I have left over in my account to get me to £52k and then I'll overpay another £200 when we get paid to cover the interest and I will have reached my target for 2021!
2022 will be getting in the 40s! Feeling very motivated at the moment as I want to be able to start using the money that no longer goes on the mortgage for a deposit for our forever home.
Have a good week. Take care and stay safe x

Ooh, exciting stuff going on for you at the minute! Well done on the mortgage OPs. I'm intrigued by your slow cooker lasagna- do you just put it all in in layers and it miraculously cooks? Do you have to make the topping separately? I'm extremely unadventurous with the slow cooker, and as a veggie most things end up pretty soft and lacking in texture so lasagna would be an interesting one to try!5
