Well, DH is safely home and passed his grading so he is now a three Dan (black belt plus 3x Dans). They're having a celebration around Christmas at a hotel where they'll have a little awards ceremony. Told DH I'm happy with him going if he would like to, he can stay in the hotel it's in and we'll already be off work for the Christmas break, so it won't cost him any holidays. If we weren't looking at paying off the mortgage and saving for a new house, I would look for a cottage nearby, so me and the dogs could go as well, but hey ho, maybe next time.
I've done another two loads of washing today and everything is set for going back to work tomorrow. I'm still feeling pretty pooped from this cold, although my throat and bunged up nose are nearly all better. Poor DH is suffering as his came on a few days after mine, so he's in the worst of it. Told him to call in sick at work if he needs to, no point going and not being able to do anything as you can't concentrate for feeling rotten. He'll see how he feels in the morning.
Payday is on Friday, so I'm looking forward to that.
The In-laws are coming on Saturday and we're going out for a meal. I can't say I'm looking forward to it. If you've read my diary for a while, you'll know me and m-i-l are not the closest and they have forgotten our anniversary again this year, only been married 2 years and they've forgotten on both occasions. DH says its because m-i-l has been in Africa on safari which is fair enough but f-i-l hasn't, he got left at home and considering m-i-l has been posting photos of her safari everyday on face ache, a message to DH wouldn't have been difficult. I think it makes me mad because DHs sister and husband get a card and gifts and a huge social post on face ache, I'm sure his brother will get all that too when his first anniversary comes around next year, so it feels like DH gets left out, which he seems to a lot, mainly because he decided to be with me 😔
Oh well, nowt as queer as folk as they say and let's face it, they're the ones missing out, they're missing out on what their son is upto and I am an absolute delight! 😅Mortgage Balance as of September 2025 £11,700

A mixed bag of a day here. Poor DH had to call in sick, he sounded and looked rotten this morning, bless him. He's still quite rough and very tired tonight so only had a slice of toast for his tea. Told him to call in sick tomorrow if he needs to. This is the first time he's called in sick since starting there 6 years ago. Even when he had covid, he worked from home.
Oh and he spoke to his mum, apparently she'd bought us an anniversary card, just forgot to post it before she left for Africa 🙄
I'm feeling a lot better, just a little tired still so went back to work. Me and work bestie had both had last week off for holidays so useless manager was covering. As I'm sure you can guess, he did diddly squat while we were off and now me and work bestie are having to desperately get everything done, as she is only in tomorrow and Wednesday morning before she goes off for her breast cancer surgery and treatment. He didn't even offer to help do anything just said it was a mess and that if she needed to ask him anything, he had some free time in the afternoon!
He then asked me if I'd had a good holiday and I said no because I got sick with this cold. Work bestie said make sure you stay away from me. I said of course and showed I'd got tissues and hand sanitiser as I stood at the opposite end of the office to her. Useless manager then said don't come near me either, I'm going on holiday soon! My response was 'I'm not bothered about you mate. I care about work bestie and making sure she doesn't get ill for her surgery and treatment, but I couldn't care less about you and your holiday!'
Probably not the best thing to say to a manager, but his absolute disregard for what work bestie is having to deal with in this conversation and previous ones, along with the fact he has made no effort to help her in any way vexed me some what!
Anyway, he got the jist that we were not happy and he left the office shortly after. Me, work bestie and another colleague put a plan of action in place to sort stuff out, so it's now all in a better place. Obviously just needed three women to sort it!
The upside to the day was then going to my cleaning job after office job, where I was told I was the best cleaner they'd ever had! Not sure how many they've had but it was a really lovely thing to hear. I know a few people on the forum have said they'd had cleaners that were good to begin with and then started to not care after a few weeks, so I'm very conscious of that and always try to do the best job I can. It's nice to hear my hardwork is paying off 😀Mortgage Balance as of September 2025 £11,700
