So close now Jessy! But definitely keep going with the savings - while it's annoying to have money 'sitting there', it does give some peace of mind (especially with the pets).Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Thanks Beanie and Vix ❤️
You are right Vix and I will. £200 a month in savings is doable so I should be able to save another £1000 by the end of the year and I will NOT touch it!
Currently sat in my brothers living room dog and cat sitting, they're all asleep (thank goodness!) They're a bit of a handful compared to our lazy lot.
It's made me think being here, me and my brother are quite the opposite, I like to scrimp and he likes to spend! His house is full of a lot of stuff and I'm not jealous at all. Strange isn't it? How you can be brought up the same way and have completely different mindsets.
This is his ridiculously large TV, if anything it makes my neck hurt watching it, like sitting on the front row at the cinema 🤣 (also featuring a bonkers labrador that finally laid down)

Totally with you on the stupid large TVs - we have a 32” one and that’s large enough. Otherwise they dominate the room, which I find very odd. Agree about how people can be so different, even with the same genes and upbringing - it just shows how unique we all are.

Very true, vix and it would be a boring world if we were all the same.
Well, I am back in my own little scrimping world. Dogs and cat have all been fed and now waiting for my bros return and I have come home. I did bring home a very pretty plant pot that had what looked like a dead plant in in his sunroom, which I asked if I could take as payment for animal sitting. I was going to use it to split my cactus plant which has sprouted little baby cacti, but on closer inspection the plant that I thought was dead actually has a bit of green left, so I have replenished the compost in the pot with some fresh and given it a good soak and we'll see if it resurrects itself.
I went to file away this years mortgage statement after having a perusal with a cup of tea and found that I have kept all my mortgage statements since moving in, so I've done some adding up:
From 2019 - 2025 the total amount of interest was £10,690.21 and the total amount of credits is £66,705.61. I have 19 years left on the mortgage, so paying it off by the end of this year or next year would save quite a lot of money in interest (I'm not smart enough to figure out exactly how much! 🤣). I'm feeling very proud of paying off over £66k in 6 years though!
When we get our forever home, I will continue to overpay the new mortgage but not as hard going as now, as I feel I need to start to enjoy life more and soak in the glory of my hard work 🙂Mortgage Balance as of July 2025 £14,900.

Wow that is amazing jessy, well done 😊
The TV photo did make me laugh, my dd and sil have a tv that takes up half their living room in their flat, it’s bonkers to me, he takes it all very seriously though and it’s measured to be the optimal height and distance for the perfect viewing experience, all top of the range stuff but like you say it feels like being at the cinema 😆 We have a fairly big tv downstairs now but only as we always get my parents hand me down tvs (sometimes third hand as my brother usually gets priority and takes them first ) so I’ll take what I can for free 😬
MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁4
