Thanks slm, Beanie & lady x
Not a bad week overall. My mum did some baking and had made some heart shapes biscuits with icing which we got a tub of. She used to be an avid baker but over the past couple of years with her MS worsening, it's difficult for her to stand at her worktops for long periods of time, but the past couple of months she seems to have gotten a little better, not sure if it is physically or mentally and she has been doing some exercises and with the help of her walker been going for short walks round the block and has started doing a bit more baking (she has a tall bar chair in the kitchen now which she sits on when she gets tired), which is really good to see as she seems happier and we get her amazing bakes again! I took some of the biscuits to work yesterday and they went down well there too.
It was quite nice walking into the office yesterday as my boss had bought me a bottle of wine and put a post it note on saying happy valentines day. Very unexpected but a lovely gesture. I think he's happy to have me back after I was taken away from him last year when I was threatened with redundancy and moved back to another office and job role.
Work was followed by DH taking me out to our local Indian restaurant for a curry which was very yummy! I bought him a kindle unlimited subscription. We did have a laugh about it because i ordered the subscription from his kindle and I thought it would give me payment options, but it just took it straight off DHs card! I then had to explain I'd done something and had to transfer him the money for it. He said that when I said I'd done something, he thought I had bought another dog! 🤣
Had two good emails from E.on this morning, one saying they were changing my DD. I thought 'oh, here we go, how much is this going up', but happily it was an email saying my DD was being reduced by £9 as our usage had gone down and I was in credit! Woohoo! The second email said that as a valentines day gift they were giving £5 free electric and to claim it all you had to do was download the e.on next app, so I did that straight away 😀
Lastly, the reason for having this diary, I had two cleaning jobs this week and with having a little extra this month in my account, I made an overpayment of £100 to the mortgage and it is now £22,300 🙂Mortgage Balance as of July 2025 £14,900.

OK, so I'm now in a sulk. I am also with Eon Next and had an email from, but mine was to say my fix is coming to an end and to check my options - all of which were more expensive 🤣! I'm glad you did better from them than I did!
Lovely to hear your Mum is getting a bit more active, getting the baking sounds like the cherry on top 🩷!Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

You're doing such a good job with the OPs Jessy! 😃 I love popping in and seeing your numbers come down 😃

Well done on the OPs and it’s great your mum is back to baking for you and herDON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Thank you all for the lovely comments x
I have neglected my diary somewhat the past couple of weeks, mainly as there hasn't been a lot to report. I've been told that the funeral for my client that passed away is next Monday, so I'm taking the afternoon off work for that. I'm going with my parents as they were neighbours of hers, living 3 doors away.
I've had a few cleaning jobs over the past few weeks and have another tomorrow. I have been asked to do some clothes and bedding washing as well, so will have to have a check what the rate should be to do that and if they want it ironing. I don't iron anything these days, so not sure how I'm going to feel if they want that doing too 🤣
I've cashed out from norstat and swagbucks recently, but need to try harder on prolific, as that is a good one.
On the mortgage front, I was paid on Friday and I'm now at £20,900. Next month I will be saying goodbye to the 20s and onto the penultimate stage, the teens!Mortgage Balance as of July 2025 £14,900.
