Thanks cheery x
We came home yesterday. We did have the chalet booked until tomorrow but the weather was miserable, we'd seen DHs family and had lots of nice walks with the dogs, so thought we might as well come home and get some stuff done here.
I did one load of washing yesterday and then another load today. In-laws bought me an electric blanket for Christmas so that went on the bed with clean sheets yesterday. Everything else is all unpacked and either put away or in the wash basket.
Today I've taken down the Christmas cards and cut out the ones I can make gift tags out of ready for next year. I then cooked a roast for dinner today and then we had camembert and breadsticks for tea! Also, streamed this afternoon and got quite a few Christmas subs, so should get a payout from that in January.
Tomorrow I need to go to my grandads and do his cleaning. Then I'll stream again in the afternoon. I made some carrot and parsnip soup when I was doing the roast so that will do us for dinner tomorrow, will just need to get some nice bread from the shop to go with it.Mortgage Balance as of July 2025 £14,900.

Spent 2hrs cleaning at my grandads this morning, had a good go at his conservatory and then a kitchen cupboard that needed cleaning out. I found some palm oil from 2009 😱 and a few other out of date bits. I did also however find an amazing Yorkshire Tea tin and a large old school bottle with Cork top that my nan used to keep spaghetti in, which I asked my grandad if he wanted to keep and when he said no, they found their way into my bag 🤣 I'm sure my nan would be pleased that they will still get use 🙂
Came home and had carrot and parsnip soup for dinner, then streamed all afternoon. DH cooked veggie sausage rolls, chips and beans for tea, which was yummy.
One of my goals for 2025 is to eat more veggies though. Even though I am a vegetarian (DH isn't but happily eats meat substitutes) I feel like we still eat rubbish at times, so I want to eat more veg and from scratch meals rather than processed foods. I've started by not ordering a few of the meat substitutes we would usually have on the food shop and replaced with salad and fresh veg to make meals out of.
I've joined the MFW 2025 thread with an overpayment target of £10,000. Definitely doable after this year and my aim is to get the motgage down to £10,000 by the end of the year 🤞
Work has been tough this year, being at risk of redundancy, forced to do a job I don't enjoy in order to stay and having to deal with a bully left me very downtrodden and stressed out. I'm hoping next year will be better. Bully has now gone which was an unbelievable relief and I have been told that now we have a replacement for me, I can go back to the job I was previously doing and really enjoyed at the end of January. I just hope it happens but above all, I need to just not let it get to me as much. Easier said than done but when it's getting too much, I need to remove myself and take a little tea break or a walk around the factory.
Also, just want to say a big thank you to you all for reading my ramblings and for the support you have given me throughout the year. It is very much appreciated and has helped me get through some tough times this year xxx
My grandparent's and now my Yorkshire Tea tin! (Just incase you're wondering, yes we do drink Yorkshire Tea and it has also got me through some tough times 🤣)

Loving the tin!Hope 2025 will be better workwise for youDON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Thanks all ❤️
Reviewing the mortgage for 2024 then, it started at £36,500 and now it is £23,900, so that is £12,600 paid off over the course of the year! I'm really pleased with this and I'm definitely on the last stretch of the journey. As I say, my aim is to have it paid off completely by my 40th birthday which is 30th June 2026. It's doable for sure, but I'm going to chuck everything at it and hopefully have it done before then. I can do this 💪Mortgage Balance as of July 2025 £14,900.

You definitely can, I'm so looking forward to seeing you smashing it 🧚♀️!
Also, reframing the pants 2024 work situation, it gave you the push to get your cleaning business underway, and look how well that is going! Every cloud....😀Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)
Cleared 🧚♀️🧚♀️🧚♀️!!! In 5 years, 1 month and 29 days
Total amount repaid: £72,307.03. £1.10 repaid for every £1.00 borrowed
Finally earning interest instead of paying it!!!5 -
Thanks SC x
You are right, my little cleaning business has been doing well. I've just looked at my spreadsheet for it and I have earnt £1200 since the beginning of June. Considering I only have 5 customers and some on a fortnightly basis, I'm really pleased with this and it is a nice little cash boost. I know it could be better as I don't advertise enough but my normal job pays very well for what I do and cleaning is more of a back up plan in case of the threat of redundancy again (I have decided that if I am threatened with redundancy again, I will take it). I also don't want to completely wear myself out by working a full time job and then cleaning everyday and weekend as well, so for now I am happy with it as it is.
We haven't got anything planned for NYE so I've downloaded a horror game to stream tonight and will hopefully make a little extra money from that. We've got a shopping delivery coming in a bit so we'll have a nice pizza to have for tea.
Thanks again for all the support this year and i hope you all have a great New Year's and a prosperous 2025! xxxMortgage Balance as of July 2025 £14,900.
