I have neglected my diary for nearly two weeks! Unfortunately, I've had a stinking cold that's seen me wiped out at the end of the day, but getting over it now and to be honest, I haven't had much to report.
I did make an op of £100 to the mortgage the other day as I had a little extra in the bank account than expected, mainly due to being stricter on the food shop and coming under £100 for the past few shops. The mortgage is now £26,300. I will definitely be under £25k by the end of the year but my bonus goal would be under £24k, so I'm going to push for that. 🙂
Mortgage Balance as of July 2025 £14,900.

Payday was on Friday, so I've made a nice overpayment to the mortgage and hit my target of getting under £25K by the end of the year, it is now £24,850. Now, I just want to hit my bonus target, which is under £24K by the end of the year.
I'm definitely looking forward to the Christmas break now, I feel like I'm working non stop at the moment and super tired, but I know it'll be worth it in the long run 🙂Mortgage Balance as of July 2025 £14,900.

Another week nearly done. Last weekend was the village Christmas Market, so we had a walk around that. There was a mystery bag stall, so I paid £1.50 and did an Indiana Jones picking the Holy grail and chose the plainest brown bag instead of any of the fancy patterned bags and won a pair of fluffy bed socks! I was chuffed with my win because first of all, socks seem expensive nowadays so £1.50 felt like a bargain and secondly they are super soft and fluffy on the inside, which I have really enjoyed these past few chilly nights! The only other thing we bought was some homemade soup from the fire station which was in support of the firefighters charity. My brother is one of the village firefighters, so I like to support their charity when I can.
I then came home and put up the Christmas decorations because it put me in a festive mood. The dogs have been enjoying their doggy cheese fondue advent calendars.
Monday was work and then cleaning in the evening. The customer has asked me to do a 2 hour clean once a month as well as my usual 1 hour clean every week, so by the time I got home, had a shower and my tea, I was pooped, but it does mean cleaning wage for this week has been £45 altogether instead of just £30. Next week I will have 4 cleaning jobs so a nice £60 will be coming my way. I have been asked to do a 4 hour deep clean for a new customer but unfortunately can't fit that in before Christmas but the customer has said she can wait until New Year, so that will be a nice little cash boost in between the early Christmas payday and what feels like never ending January pay day.
A new man will be joining work on Monday to take over my current job role so that I can move back into my preferred job role that they made me redundant from earlier this year. I'm just crossing my fingers that he's an alright bloke and will be happy doing the job and stays and then that my boss doesn't then change his mind again and put me at risk of redundancy again! Atleast I know I have my little cleaning business to fall back on this time if it does all go Pete Tong and I can grow that instead. My large overpayment this month has put my monthly DD down to £170 a month now, so if something were to happen, with my savings and my cleaning, I can cover the bills for a few months without asking for too much help from DH (although I'm sure he would be happy to help if needed). Anyway, must stay positive but its nice to have a back up plan.
Have a good rest of the weekend and stay safe in this horrible weather! XMortgage Balance as of July 2025 £14,900.

That’s an incredibly small
monthly payment you have managed to op down to ! Well done
have you started looking at new homes yet or you waiting for the mortgage payoff?DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Thanks @LadyWithAPlan ❤️
I'm wanting to pay it off completely before buying a new house. This is a little one bedroom bungalow, with no garden and nowhere to park and it was on the market for a long time before I bought it. It was being rented out, so we might do the same. Either way, I don't want it to affect us getting another mortgage in any way, so want to have it paid off first really. I do keep having a look to see what is about and we're probably looking up to £250k for what we really want and it will be our forever home, so once this mortgage is paid off I'll be able to save my mortgage and overpayment money to get a nice deposit together, along with what DH has saved.Mortgage Balance as of July 2025 £14,900.

I'd be tempted to use the asset to get in your forever home asap but becoming MF is such a great first goal no matter what - you can clearly look at the options and what your 'forever home' will cost when you are MF.DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)

Thanks Lady x
Well, it is the last week of work before we break up for Christmas and I can't wait!
New bloke started at work last week and seems so good, so far, so I'm hoping it won't be long before he is taking on most of what I'm doing now and I can get back to my desired job role by the end of January 🤞
Cleaning jobs are all done now until after Christmas (apart from my grandads on Thursday) and I have to say, that little bit of extra money coming in has really helped buy everyone's Christmas presents, meaning that when I get paid early at my normal job, it won't be as much of a strain to last until the end of January.
DH took me out for a meal at the local Indian on Friday. It was one of his little treats now that he has paid the car off and has some extra cash and it was very much appreciated. This Friday is our works Christmas party. We won't be stopping late though as we start our Christmas holiday in Suffolk for a week on Saturday, woohoo!
Friday will also be pay day and time to make an overpayment to the mortgage. It will take me under £24k and means I'm getting closer to the teens! 😃
Sunday was the last whippet meet up of 2024. Around 52 dogs altogether, mainly whippets with a few lurchers and gate crashers mixed in. We raised £150 for a sighthound charity. I really enjoy these gatherings, means we can talk to fellow owners and get advice and the dogs love being with their mates. Here's the lot of us and Dog 1 sporting her Christmas jumper x

Tuesday down.
We had the end of year talk from the MD today and unfortunately, no Christmas bonus this year. Oh well, can't say I'm surprised but it would have been a nice end to a rubbish time at work this year.
This evening, I have got all my Christmas presents wrapped and ready to take to my parents tomorrow night as we are going round for tea and it will be the last time we see them before Christmas.
Just 3 more days to go!Mortgage Balance as of July 2025 £14,900.
