Happy belated birthday! Well done on your OP achievements as well - your focus is fantasticDON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Thank you all for the birthday wishes and kind comments 😘
I had a nice chilled out day yesterday and far too much chocolate cake was eaten 🤣
Back at work today and bully is on holiday for two weeks! Yippee! Although, to be fair she has backed off and left me alone, but it is nice to have that pressure completely taken off for a bit. In further good news, I've had an enquiry about cleaning from a potential new customer and going to see them on Wednesday, so fingers crossed! 🤞Mortgage Balance as of July 2025 £14,900.

Good luck with your cleaning business. Once you get well known/established, I’m sure more clients will follow. Word of mouth is a good way to establish a business. My mum’s former cleaner (she is in a care home now) had the monopoly in the sheltered housing complex where my mum used to live. That was because she was trustworthy and good and was always willing to go the extra mile for her clients. Is there any sheltered housing/flats where you live? The elderly are always grateful for some help and my mum’s cleaner found it rewarding (as well as lucrative). She was so busy that she employed other staff and her business grew. Even if the elderly find it difficult to find the money for help, families (as I did) often chip in as they appreciate a clean living environment can make a vast difference to their relative.5

Thanks for the suggestion @FreetodoasIlike 🙂 I'm not sure there is anything like that in the village, but I'll ask my mum, she'll know!
The new customer I went to see on Wednesday wanted to go ahead and I've been for my first clean there this afternoon. A bit of a challenging one, as the gentleman has had a stroke and can't do as much as he used to and the lady of the house works down in London most of the week, so unfortunately the house is in a bit of a mess. I tackled the kitchen in my hour today and he seemed really happy with the outcome, as was I. I don't think my knees will thank me in the morning though, as I had to get down to scrub the floor 😱🤣
My grandad also asked me to help him 'do a bit of weeding in his veg patch' this weekend, this is his veg patch! When i said to him its a jungle, he just giggled! Cheeky old monkey! 🤣 Needless to say, its a work in progress!
With the money from my cleaning and gardening, I hope to pay off an extra £100 from the mortgage this month. Getting really close to getting in the 20s now, so I'm getting impatient and tempted to take money from my savings, but I really do need to build the EF as well, so counting the days until payday instead!
