Glad you are giving it a try, plus a good idea to do it around the current job until you know that it will work. Well done on paying so much off the mortgageMe, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

Thank you everyone! Really appreciate all your kind comments x
My dad has designed my leaflets and I'm really chuffed with them. He has sent it off to the printers and they should arrive in the post early next week. Payday is tomorrow so I've added some bits to my amazon basket (tabard, invoice/receipt book, bucket, gardening trowel, fork and gloves etc) ready to push checkout. I will double check to see if I can cash out any amazon vouchers from any survey websites though.
This weekend will be spent insurance comparing! I will need public liability insurance, but our home insurance is also up for renewal at the end of June. Its gone up £70, so I want to make sure we're getting the best deal.
Also, depending on whether the weather is nice, we will be painting the exterior of the house. We bought all the stuff needed last week, we just need a few dry days now, which at the moment seems to be a huge ask!
Have a good rest of the week x

I got the home insurance sorted, it was cheaper to just stay with who we are with, but I needed to update a couple of details, so that's all done now.
I also sorted my public liability insurance and it is only £8.40 a month, so can't complain about that. I do need to contact HMRC as I was self employed a long time ago and it seems you don't get a new UTR number if you register as self employed again, but can I find anything with my previous number on, nope!! Typical!
Leaflets were received for my cleaning/gardening business and I have started disturbing them and putting them on noticeboards around the village. I am pleased to say I now have two clients, one is my grandad and another is a neighbour of my parents. It's a start anyway! I just need to make a Facebook page now, so that I can advertise on the village page.
Unfortunately, things haven't been going very well at work and I had another run in with the work bully, which gave me an anxiety attack. I've been signed off work for a week and have a meeting with my boss tomorrow before I am due to go back in on Wednesday. I did ask if voluntary redundancy was still an option, but because i took the job role they offered, that was a no. We will have to see how it goes, but if I can get a few more clients on my books I can hopefully quit anyway. Fingers crossed 🤞
I've made a small overpayment of £187.64 to the mortgage and that now stands at £33,300. Hoping I can get £500 paid off towards the end of the month when we get paid again and it's my birthday, I can then do my 5 year roundup!

Sorry to hear about the bully, why it always the bully who gets to stay and those being bullied have to look for other opportunities. I hope your self employed business takes off quicklyMe, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

There are few things worse than having to work with a bully. Having done it several years ago I can heartily sympathise. I hope your boss can and does do something.

I completely understand the desire to want to leave ASAP due to bullying colleague. But the thing to keep in mind is that you will see a big drop in business over the winter, as there's not much growing and not a lot of daylight or dry days to do the work in.
Holding out as long as possible gives you a chance to see what the business cycle looks for you, and what you could do as an alternative from around November to February/March to keep some money coming in."You won't bloom until you're planted" - Graffiti spotted in Newcastle.

I’m so behind on reading diaries on here. Finally caught up on yours and am sorry to hear about work stress. I’ve seen a number of redundancies at firms I’ve worked at and even when it’s done right, the atmosphere can be horrible to work in. I would have suggested building up a client base before leaving, but looks like you’ve already done that
Often having a plan B makes you feel so much better and you should definitely keep that in mind at work.
It’s very poor that the bully is allowed to continue doing what they do. I find HR so variable. I always think that if I ever set up a company, I would actually treat people properly and with respect that’s so often missing at companies.
A good cleaner is hard to come by and gardeners are almost like gold dust where I live. There’s definitely opportunity in both of those. It took us 12 months to get a gardener - everyone was permanently booked up!2025 decluttering: 3,848🌟🥉🌟💐🏅🏅🌟🥈🏅🌟🏅💐💎🌟🏅🏆🌟🏅
