Thanks hetty, that's a great idea! There is a nursery and a primary school in the village, I will look into it. I have made my Facebook page now, so i can start sharing that too.
Thanks NG x
It's been a busy week at work and I had my appraisal on Friday. After having a week being signed off by the docs and just being in a better frame of mind, I felt I was able to get across everything I wanted to say and how I'd like to move forward with work. My boss seemed happy, so feeling more positive about it all.
We've had a busy weekend, it was dog 2's 5th birthday yesterday, so we booked an hour at the dog field, so all three could have a good run around and play in a secure field with no other distractions and then a trip to the pet store for some treats. Then, because we finally have some nice weather, we were able to start painting the house! It's looking so much better. DH finished the side today while I was at a cleaning job. We now just have the back to do which will take longer as the render has bubbled, so that will need scraping off and new applying before we can paint, it's also in next doors garden, so we have to get them to give us access into their garden, which isn't always easy! (It's not that their horrible neighbours, just that they have a lot of money so are never at home!)
I have also paid another £200 off the mortgage, it is now £32,500! I still have £300 allowance left but it resets the 26th and I don't get paid until the 28th, so unless I go further into my savings, I won't use it all 🤔
Pic of Dog 2 on his 5th birthday because he's such a handsome boy!

Today is my 38th birthday and 5 years since I moved into my little 1 bed bungalow!
When I first moved in my mortgage was £72,000 and the monthly payments £363.55. 5 years later my mortgage is now £31,400 and my new monthly payment £209.76 (When I got my new mortgage deal back in January which was another 5 year fixed rate, the monthly amount was supposed to be £239.66 due to the interest rate rise, but because I've overpaid since then its now £209.76). In 5 years I have paid £40,600 off the mortgage! This is quite frankly astounding to me, I never thought I could pay off so much in such a short amount of time! I'm super proud of myself.
I can't say life has gone as smoothly as I would have liked and moving back to Lincolnshire from Yorkshire after my first marriage broke down, to only a little bungalow wasn't easy, but I've achieved a lot in that time and I'm happy with life. I have my amazing DH, my 3 beautiful dogs, my family around me and my little bungalow.
Here's to the next 5 years, where my aim is to pay off this place and then move to another property which will hopefully be our forever home. Whether or not I sell my little bungalow or rent it out is yet to be decided, but we will see what life has in store for us! 🙂
P.S Thank you to all you lovely MFW friends. I know we'll most likely never meet in person but I appreciate all the support and kindness that I get from you all on my mortgage free journey xMortgage Balance as of July 2025 £14,900.
