Thanks beanie! 😀
Better week at work. Had the sit down with the new lady and said what I wanted to say. I said it's now water under the bridge as far as I'm concerned and hopefully she'll feel the same. It does feel quite a relief to have it dealt with, so I really hope that's the end of it.
We got paid on Friday and I've overpaid £400 to the mortgage. The new total is £35,400 and that's a total of £588.11 overpaid for February.
Now my pay has increased with my new role, I want to work on building up savings too. I want to save for things like the new render but also for an emergency fund, so I'm going to start putting £500 a month away. I've currently got £1100 in my isa, although £400 of this will go out at the end of March to pay for my half of our holiday to the lake district in May. £200 in premium bonds, if possible I want to add £50 to this every month and then there's the high interest nationwide savings account which currently has £250 in it, but I'm only allowed to put £25-£50 into this a month. This will be quite a challenge, but I really need that emergency fund in place, especially as me and DH work for the same company. I want to make sure we're covered for at least 6 months if anything were to happen.
We had a lovely trip out to the seaside yesterday which helped lift my spirits too and made me more determine to get my little house by the sea one day!Mortgage Balance as of July 2025 £14,900.

A small £97.10 paid to the mortgage to round it down to £35,200. I still have a remaining allowance of £2600 until 26/06, so that's good and it's exciting that I will be in the low 30s at the end of this month 😀
Waiting to see what the new council tax will be. I'm expecting it to be quite a jump with everything else shooting up, but we shall see, fingers crossed it won't be too bad.
Food shopping will be reduced this week as we had an unexpected surprise of pizza at work last Friday lunchtime for staff appreciation day, so we took leftovers home for tea and then Saturday we went for tea at my parents house. That's two meals on the menu plan that can be for next week instead.

Glad work had got better - but she doesnt sound like she deals with people very well....
well done on that mortgage as well - great success!DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Thanks SC! X
All good here, just been busy and not had a huge amount to report.
Work wise - New lady continues to be just horrid. She seems to forget that DH works in the office next door and can hear her moaning about me and what I do. She had a huge argument with a colleague from another dept. the other week and actually walked out, but old boss went and got her back. She then had an argument with a director last week. This particular director works in the same office as me and had asked me to do something which involved her, and I did as I was asked. She then moaned to director about what I had done, not realising the request had come from him, he wasn't best pleased! I just can't understand her at all, she seems to be upsetting everyone and doesn't make any effort to try and build relationships with anyone, even to help herself in her role. I'm now just keeping away from her unless I have to speak to her about something work related. It's a shame because apart from that, I'm really enjoying my new role.
Family - MIL is going through chemo still and having a tough time so I sent her a care package of some magazines, a nice smellies gift set and some thick Harry potter socks (she's a huge Harry potter fan) which she really liked, so hope it helped perk her up a bit. I have also signed up to the Stand Up to Cancer Dog Walking Challenge, which is to walk 60 miles with your dog throughout April. We started today and got 2.27 miles down, so off to a good start.
I'm just waiting for the weather to improve now, so I can start seeing my mum more, as we like to sit outside in the sunshine and chat, while the dogs all play.
Home - the valve in the cistern broke the other day, so had to get a new one. It was only £11.99 off Amazon and DH was able to fit himself, so can't complain really.
Mortgage wise, I have made additional overpayments totalling £488.33, so the new total is £34,600. The council tax has gone up by £5 a month, so not too bad, but the water has gone up by £11, so we're going to have to watch our usage there.
Savings - the holiday money has gone out of savings, but after being paid last week it's back up to £1675. I'm aiming for £5000 by the end of the year.
Hope you all had a great Easter and haven't eaten too much chocolate!
Have a great week xMortgage Balance as of July 2025 £14,900.
