It sounds like you've had a lovely festive period (bar the COVID recovery). We were in Suffolk over Christmas too, lovely to see the sea again even if the weather was a bit blowy!
Wishing you all the best for 2024 ☺️Mortgage Balance as of July 2025 £14,900.

I got my new mortgage deal sorted. A 5 year fixed rate at 5.04% and a monthly payment of £239.66. It's £30 less than I'm paying now and I have the 20% overpayment allowance every year still.
Unfortunately, the interest rate isn't as low as I had hoped, so has scuppered my plans of paying off the mortgage by my 40th birthday in 2026, but it is what it is and I will still be paying it off asap and hopefully still within this 5 year fixed rate.

well done on getting your deal sorted, it sounds v manageableDON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Hi, I've spent the past week / fortnight reading from the start and am so impressed with how much you have repaid so far. I am sure it wont be long before it is fully paid off.
As my DS is always playing video games I have told him to look into streaming, to see if he can make a little money. Maybe this would be his perfect part time jobMe, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

I am so jealous of your tiny mortgage. Out of interest where did you move to? I had no idea you could still buy places so cheap. If I had your mortgage I would clear it in about 3 years. For now I have to keep chipping away at mine, as with the over payments I knock about 25k off per year, but it's a slow road to mortgage freedom!

Not a lot happening here at the moment. We've been sticking to the meal plan I made, so I didn't go overboard when I had the shopping delivered and no takeaways as of yet!
I've had my hair cut today which was £32.50, but I hadn't had it done since last October as I had to cancel my December appointment because of covid. Not booked in again now until the end of March, so it's not like I pay out every week for it 🙂
I've been struggling to get the dogs food on subscription on Amazon lately with it constantly being unavailable, but have found pets at home do the same food on a subscription at a discounted rate, so I've set that up and it should save us a bit of money each month. Unfortunately, we have to get a sensitive stomach food which tends to cost a bit extra, so I'll take any saving where I can get it.
I've cashed out a £5 Amazon voucher from swagbucks, so that will come in handy for the next purchase through them.Mortgage Balance as of July 2025 £14,900.

Payday is coming up this week, so with the £200 I had left for the month I decided to pay £100 off the mortgage, so it now stands at £36,500 🙂
We were a bit naughty this weekend and had a chippy tea Friday night but it only came to £11 and was very yummy 😋
Stew is currently in the slow cooker and will be boxed up into two and put in the fridge for tea tomorrow and Tuesday. Dumplings will be made in the air fryer on the night while the stew is warmed up.
Not a lot else to report really, just ticking along.
Have a good week all x
