Mind you, if there are people who are prepared to vote to lose their jobs because they hate immigration so much, or they want democracy close to them, or whatever. Well, hey ho, that's democracy good luck to them. But, we should probably have another vote to check that is what they want. Only fair, given the lies told three years ago.

Remember a no deal advocating party does not need 50+% majority to win the next GE.

Yes if a no deal party actually win a GE I would respect that. I doubt you will though. Turkeys don't usually vote for Xmas. Well, you'd think.

Nobody has a mandate for no deal. What happened to the sunny uplands? The great FTAs? Turns out it was all bo!!ocks to paraphase the Lib Dems.

Interested to know why you think I won’t respect a GE result.

The leavers argue that it's because we haven't negotiated in the right way. We should be more like Trump, who is turning the US into a laughing stock. One minute Huawei is a threat and can't be allowed to do business with US firms for security reasons, the next they are a pawn in his trade deal.

That might work for America, because if it goes wrong and poor people start having to steal for food you can just shoot them in the head and nobody cares (especially if they are black) & so the rich are relatively protected. We are a bit more liberal and when throwing a tantrum with the EU has the inevitable conclusion then eventually the poor will vote for someone that will look after them and we'll all have less money.

I doubt that care what your opinion is. As they are doing what's best for the US. You appear to be underestimating the Chinese global advance and the ideology that lies behind it.

No, they are doing what Trump thinks is good for him. Which is several degrees of separation away from what is best for the US.

I'm well aware of the issues around China, Trump saying that Huawei is an unacceptable threat but they could be part of a trade deal seems like he doesn't understand China at all.

On both issues we'll just have to agree to disagree. Not that I have any empathy with Trump particularly. China extends well beyond the Huawei debate.

Sure, but it's sabre rattling because while we don't like China's increasing dominance that is just out of spite & there is nothing else legally we can do about it.

We want them to know their place and stay there as our manufacturing dumping ground & not get any ideas above their station.

All of the problems with china would be solved if we didn't want to rely on cheap labour who live in appalling conditions, while living in comparative luxury ourselves.

The Chinese have very clear objectives. Vietnam and Thailand are cheaper sources of labour these days for example. China wants more upmarket jobs. Days of producing tat are diminishing.

I accept that is how things are moving, it's going to take a long time before that process is complete. At that point they'll start hitting the same kind of problems as we did in the past.

They'll end up doing free trade deals with US and EU on very similar basis, but I don't see us having enough clout.
