Make a budget NSDs 1/30 Nothing spent on day 1
Enjoy the month. Do things that make you happy. Today I had laughs at my boxing class.
Read. I'll be tucking myself into bed tonight with another couple of chapters of War & Peace. My aim this month is to finish book 3 & 4 (the book is split into Volumes, each split into Books, each with many chapters :o)
Reduce. Nothing new has entered the house today.
Increase. Music practice. 15 Minutes on the guitar, 15 minutes on the sax. Nice ease into day 1.
Move it! Back is a lot better today. I attended my boxing class.
    Every day gratitudes:
    1) Catching up on Holby
    2) Realising I hadn't switched the slowcooker plug on before it was too late.- Tea was saved.
    3) Nice chillled day in work as the higher-ups weren't in ;)
No! to wants, to treats. Little bit of choc slipped into my face this morning. I didn't really enjoy it as I felt so guilty. Which will put me off tomorrow I suppose :o
Think of others. I'll purchase another item for the homeless boxes this month.

    Check in #1/31 NSDs #1/16
Make a budget and stick to it. Printed out monthly spending diary and as today was NSD #1 no entries.
Enjoy the month. Planned a get together with a friend for later this month.
Read. Have a number of library books ready to read.
Reduce, reduce and reduce some more. Need to focus on removing stuff.
Increase, increase and increase even more. Need to focus on gaining experiences.
Move it! Pottered about at home after a fairly busy shift at work.
    Every day,
    Grateful for:
    food from freezer
    drying washing outside
laptop autosaved document I was working on before freezing and having to reboot.
    No! Nothing today.
Think of others. Monthly charity donation to be paid. Made enquiries to volunteer at a local charity – waiting to hear outcome.

  • Evening everyone
    Here's my update:

Make a budget and stick to it. Got a budget spreadsheet. Need to track food spends a bit better and work out budget for a few birthdays and social stuff this month.
Enjoy the month. Will try not to let work get to me. Will deal with one thing at a time. Will focus on enjoying time outside of work.

Read. Most definitely!! Reading Testament of Youth at the moment and read some today.

Reduce, reduce and reduce some more.
trying my best and will keep trying. I have reduced time spent on social media and deleted Fb app from my phone last year; will try not to look on it at all this month as I don't like it anyway!

Increase, increase and increase even more. Increase meal planning. Will focus on this as not very good at it. Increase walking -done 10000 steps today!. Increase being outdoors. Definitely. Increase appreciating what you have. Need to be more positive and less negative.

Move it! If you are exercising already, then up the ante. Get back to gym!

Every day may not be good, but there is something good in every day. Let’s make May a month of being grateful for all that we have. Post 3 gratitudes every day. My 3 things for today: time with DD2, I visited her at uni; enjoying the scenery on the drive home while listening to Ed Sheeran; a lovely supportive text from my friend.

No! to wants, to treats, to coffee shops, to the work canteen, to vending machines, to takeaway establishments. You get the picture!
Will try tomorrow - took DD2 out for lunch

Think of others.Be kind. Smile. Talk to a neighbour. Donate to charity or the foodbank. I am trying to smile more in general and I had a chat with the man in the uni caf! where we had lunch. I am gathering stuff for charity - DD1 and I have 1.5 bags so far...

Nite all, off to read in bed :)

Words and pictures are yin and yang. Married, they produce a progeny more interesting than either parent. Be awesome! Be a book nut!

So says Dr Seuss about reading :D

I just found this thread through a super early waking this morning. It’s lovely! I’m going to lurk for May and sign up for next month.

A great idea and loving the quotes!

MFW #60…. Back in for 2025!
  • Good morning :)

Make a budget and stick to it. Budget is a work in progress, but have started to note every spend which will help to get a realistic budget eventually.

    Enjoy the month
. I'm generally feeling down a lot of the time at the moment, so I'll need to remind myself about this every day. Last night, I watched some episodes of a box set which I hadn't seen before and enjoyed them so will watch a couple every night as my treat.

    Read

Reduce, reduce and reduce some more. Will work on this this month - need to reduce paper and have a general declutter.

Increase, increase and increase even more.
    Will have a think.

    Move it!
Definitely need this and will try every day just to move a bit more.

Every day may not be good, but there is something good in every day. Today, I'm grateful for a later start at work so I have some time this morning for a gentler start to the day. I'm grateful for a cup of tea in bed and the turtles to talk to :)

    No! Ok

    Think of others.
Yesterday, I bought some cake from a charity sale at work.

Have a good day all :)

    For yesterday

Make a budget and stick to it. I use YNAB for my budgeting so have updated it with May's budget.

Enjoy the month. Day off work yesterday so lots of time spent with OH.

Read. Planning to go to the library today.

Reduce, reduce and reduce some more. Made a curry last night using ys pork and various veg, 2 portions in the freezer for a later date. Also made garlic flatbreads which used up the last of some yoghurt.

Increase, increase and increase even more. Didn't leave the flat yesterday :o

Move it! Very lazy day, barely got 2500 steps.

Post 3 gratitudes every day. Day off work, spending time with OH, yummy curry for tea.

    No! Didn't leave the house.

    Think of others. Nothing here.

    16 NSD. 1/16

Pay to your debt/savings FIRST and live off the rest. £1 extra paid to the debt.

Plan the month. Going to do this tonight.

Check in every day. Will try.
    Debt Dec 2022 - £2972.68. Current debt - £0 (100% paid). Flat deposit - £15534.41/£20000 (77.7% saved). Emergency fund - £2000/£2500 (80% saved).

    Photogenic Debt-free and Proud!
Yesterday see's me off the mark with NSD #1.

I have sorted my budget for the month and today is a designated spend day, with lots of little things to do and buy unfortunately. The planning of it all thought ensures my spends are low and only if necessary. God I do love this challenge.

Make a budget - all bills paid on 1st, have a little bit put aside for mortgage overpayment, then £100 a week for everything is my budget.

Enjoy - I can now, DH forgot our wedding anniversary again, but is was only our 21st, so not as bad as him forgetting last year (yeah, he did). Half-term at the end of the month. GCSEs and SATS over here this month. Daytrips and overnighters, no real going away.

    Read - I don't need telling twice!

    Reduce x 3
My weight is going down this month. Not only is my one binbag a week quite stable, but I am also reducing the amount of recyclables too. Going to repurpose some offcuts of wood as planters. All good cheap fun and keeps me off street corners.

    Increase x 3
    Water - 2ltrs a day,
Family Time is films, last night was Terminator, tonight is V for Vendetta and probably Discovery.
I have caved and hit those 'shakes', never done it before, but I am trying it for a week to get me started, and then I will introduce an even better eating plan made from real food.

    Move it!
This one I really need to work on

    Post 3 gratitudes every day
1 - That I know DH does not mean to forget our anniversaries, or birthdays or christmas, it is just not on his radar, and I know not to take it personally.

    2. That I am able to stay home and look after the kids
    3. Anti-histamines
    4. Wonderweb.

No! - turned down DHs offer to go out to lunch today. He is an expert at diet sabotage. I will not fail on day 2.
    NSD 1 today
