GCSEs and SATs have begun. First day in the bag. Nobody too traumatised by the experience, but DS1 now realises he needs to write faster:rotfl:. Lots of sunshine, laundry dried, accidentally made about 3 x as much pastry as needed. So I might have to make a quiche and a treacle tart soon, as I have all the makings for those in the house already and I am dangerously close to my weekly self-imposed budget limit.

    Grateful for:
    knowing how to cook
kids not being too stressed out
having a clean house (I cleaned it)
starting to think about building works.

I second a call to the social - you simply cannot leave a 5 yr old alone - then they will investigate, it is possible she just needs to come on to their radar and may get a little extra help or support.

Thank you,CCL. I have considered this. I think that this is the problem people have. When do you intervene or when do you try to manage it yourself as a community? I am not sure if the Social Services are already involved but I think they probably are. I know who the eldest child child's father is. He's a criminal. Been in jail for very violent offences, The baby was apparently conceived whilst the mother was on a long holiday in Turkey (having left the other two with various Grandmothers). The alleged father of the baby is apparently refusing to have paternity test. No idea who the five year old's father is. Her latest "boyfriend" has has just left her to go back to his partner and five children. i'm sure you're getting the picture here.

Himself says to me you can only encourage the children to do the things that they can do, keep an eye on things and if we think we have to do something more then we will. I can't sleep for worying about these little girls though.

Make a budget and stick to it. Today's spends updated in YNAB.

Enjoy the month. Spent the afternoon sitting out in the garden enjoying the sun.

    Read. Doing lots of reading.

Reduce, reduce and reduce some more. Unfortunately had to throw out some veg when I got back. Had thought it would survive until today but nope. Meal plan for next week done so hopefully no food waste.

Increase, increase and increase even more. Spent lots of time outdoors today.

    Move it! Hmm not much.

Post 3 gratitudes every day. Sunshine, good journey home, feel happier :).

No! Cafe breakfast this morning but dad paid for it.

    Think of others. Nothing here.

    16 NSD. 7/16

Pay to your debt/savings FIRST and live off the rest. Nothing extra paid today.

Today I am grateful for sunshine with a fresh breeze, for getting lots of admin done at work, for cheerful chats, for getting home early, for dd playing happily in the garden, for my workout, for cake.

  • Hi all; my update for today, but first I have to say that Take That were brilliant and we had a great time!! Thank you for the good wishes :)

Budget - I paid petrol yesterday but DD1 bought snacks which were the usual rip off at concerts, we did take food to eat while waiting to get out the car park (45 mins!). Today I have stocked up on cat food, dishwasher tabs, washing powder, all in budget.

Enjoy the month. Will try not to let work get to me. FT job is v difficult but I have contacted my union and sent the info they requested. Got my PT job tomorrow too and my colleague is poorly so all down to me - oh heck! Can't be helped so I will manage

    Read. No time today

Reduce, reduce and reduce some more. B/L from stores and healthy too :)

Increase, Increase walking - not even been outside other than walking to and from the car!

    Move it! epic fail today

Things I am grateful for today: support from my sis; support from a friend; DD1 made tea when I got home late from work

No! only spent on essentials today

Think of others. Had a long chat with colleague who had taken OH to hospital and the news was not good

Not a lot happening here. Went to mum's and started on the shed. Took out everything that was on the floor and piled up - garden tools, 4 chairs, 2 tarps, sunshade, some toys and paintbrushes, 2 sets of ladders, plant pots (all this in about a 4 foot square space + a bit extra down the sides of some drawers).

Sorted the shelves so that all garden stuff was on one shelf, all paint cans on another (one whole shelf free atm), threw away felt tips that had been left without tops on, put all the toys back into two drawers, put wild bird food on the table, hung up one set of ladders, stacked all the old garden tools in a corner with the other ladders in front of them (too heavy for mum and probably for me, bought new lightweight fork and spade last year), took a couple of things that are technically mum's partner's to the cupboard where his remaining clothes are in case any of his children want them.

Lots of resting in between. When I stopped to eat I found the chair near the window was too sunny and I had a headache so may have been in the sun too long so put the other things back until tomorrow (want to drill holes for some large hooks I bought so that the chairs and tools can be hung on the walls). May put the unused hanging half baskets on the back of the door to hold gardening gloves etc.

Filled the kitchen cupboards from the soupery, made a list of things mum wants me to buy for her - lots of fruit, some veg, ibruprofen gel (it's helping her but she was worried about how fast she was getting through it) and have to check out some holidays around Christmas and check the dates for the Hot Ice show.

Internet conked out on me earlier so couldn't report.

Today I am grateful for lovely weather, hayfever tablets and factor 50 suncream, good reading material and a few ys bargains.

You don't always have to follow prepared paths in life. If you break with convention you'll find a lot more freedom in what you can do and where you can go. The world is wide open if you just take a stand and make your own way.

What a beautiful day and everything here is much quieter and tidier now.

Himself and I went for a little bit of a walk this morning before it got too hot. Needed a few household things so not a NSD.

Done all the ironing and made two big pots of soup for the Boy's lunches. Must go and portion them up now so he can put them in the freezer when he gets home.

    Finished another book.

    Grateful for;
    Another quiet day
    Beautiful sunshine
Lots of food in the freezer (pork chops tonight)
Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.
