Just made an overpayment of £101 so the mortgage is now £16, 570. I also got an interest rate reduction which has taken a bit off the payment. Will be waiting for Martins 0% balance transfer card recommendations in January as my deal ends in March. The mortgage is currently the only thing that charges me interest so it makes sense (to me at least) to concentrate on that balance. Off to meal plan and budget for January 🧮SPC #023 SPC 12: £125.86; SPC 13: £214.98; SPC 14: £297.41; SPC 15: £237.27; SPC 16: £335.39; SPC 17: £662.09 SPC 18: £660.03; SPC 19 ?

Happy new year everyone. I spent the first 50 mins of the year sat on the kitchen floor trying to calm down the dog due to fireworks going off. I really thought he would have heart failure the way he was panting and shaking ☹️. Had to buy a few things, mainly replacements for things my son has lost at school; football boots, shin pads, calculator, maths set. Ordered more coffee and dog food and I really need a new phone battery but a local business does them for £30, just need to book it in and pay a deposit, pop over and sort it out (hence my delay on getting it done 🤣). I’ve given myself a target of reducing the mortgage balance by £600 a month which might be a stretch for January. The mortgage payment takes about £215 off the balance. I do have 2 additional payments due in this year which are destined for the mortgage, my help to save bonus and a payment for some extra Christmas work I’ve done. These have been factored into my target and although this isn’t the year I will be able to pay it off completely I should get it into single figures 🤞SPC #023 SPC 12: £125.86; SPC 13: £214.98; SPC 14: £297.41; SPC 15: £237.27; SPC 16: £335.39; SPC 17: £662.09 SPC 18: £660.03; SPC 19 ?

Oh bless him, it really is awful to see them in such a state. Hopefully the rules they're bringing in for 2026 will make a bit of a difference, but I don't think they go far enough 😔 Luckily our three are quite good with fireworks but I think that's only because we live rurally with bird scarers and shooting going on a lot they've got used to loud bangs.
Wishing you all the best for the mortgage ops for this year, you'll smash it xStarting Mortgage Balance (June 2019) £72,000. Mortgage Free November 2025!1 -

I believe they've changed when you're allowed to buy them/when shops are allowed to sell them (only certain times of the year and not all year round) and then what times you are allowed to set them off.KajiKita said:Starting Mortgage Balance (June 2019) £72,000. Mortgage Free November 2025!2 -
Interesting, and positive (I quite like fireworks but preferably silent and public displays).Jessy103 said:
But if people don’t know about the new rules (and I didn’t) how will they know what’s expected of them …? 🤔🤷♀️

We live in a suburban area and bonfire night was horrendous. They started going off at Halloween and didn’t stop until the weekend after the 5th. He wasn’t too bad when we first got him but he’s gradually got worse; rescue so we think early life in racing kennels was not the best ☹️. I have an as adaptil permanently on, he has doggy calming meds (yumove calm me), he had his thundershirt on and the Alexa was playing doggy calming music all night.
