renewal quote was OK but Gulf's was better and they are a HUGE American company so the likelyhood of impending receivership is unlikely.

    Started the switch today.

As others have said, they are not the huge American corporation people might perhaps think.

The 2nd paragraph of their T&Cs informs us of the following:

"We, us or our is Gas and Power Limited (company number 09735925). Our address is 3B Edward VII Quay, Navigation Way, Preston PR2 2YF. When supplying Energy, we trade under the name Gulf Gas & Power UK. When we refer to Gulf Gas & Power UK, we are also referring to Gas & Power Limited."

They were originally incorporated as Rose Energy Supply Ltd. in 2015 becoming the current Gas and Power Ltd. in 2017.

As molerat says, they are just another minnow. They appear to have licensed the brand from Gulf Oil International. There is a link to them on the Gulf Oil International website:

There doesn't appear to be any big organisation behind Gas and Power Ltd. Their strategy nearly fooled me.

Gulf Gas & Power UK are being a bit naughty about their history. Their website states:-

"It’s fair to say that you may be more familiar with Gulf for having over 100 years of excellence in a range of fields including motorsports, fuel, oil and lubricants. Gulf’s heritage saw us open the first-ever branded petrol station in Pittsburgh, USA in 1913, and have led the way in fuel and energy ever since.

"Leading the way in fuel and energy since 1913.

"So, venturing into gas and electricity supply made a lot of sense for Gulf - and it makes sense for you."

Seems it's not fair to say that. nono.gif

Haha ! Nice sleuthing guys .

Anyway, not to worry, it isn't life or death and as long as they have good rates and service I'm not really bothered what company bills me.

Just taken the plunge and gone for Gulf's fixed gas tariff. Haven't been on a fixed tariff in quite a long time but their price stomps all over the competition.

A quick update on my experience so far:
Switched on 7th Feb, first payment taken and shown in online account.
Meter reading requested before or on 6th March.  Provided reading on 6th, meter reading appears in online account, shown as being provided on 7th March. Weird.
Second payment not taken on time, contacted Gulf via chat (quick response) on 10th March.  Told payment will be taken late and bill will come soon.
Bill arrives by email later on 10th March, all spelt correctly and the maths is correct (take note Symbio). Bill doesn't appear in online account.
12th March bill appears in online account - because we're in winter there's an instant deficit against the EAC/12 payment. The right hand side of my account screen tells me my direct debit is too low and may need to be increased.  Meanwhile, on the left hand side off the screen there's a message telling me that my Direct Debit may be higher than it needs to be.  Double weird.
Hopefully the late payment will be taken soon and all will be OK.  The website obviously has some quirks but I'm happy.

Gulf have emailed asking for a new meter reading and suggesting that they would like readings every two weeks in the emergency.
HOWEVER, the website won't accept a reading for gas today - I'm getting a strange message:-
ERROR -The meterpoint XXXXXXXXXX does not have an EUC at date/time 2020-03-25T00:00:00.000(Customer readings are treated as occurring at the end of the day, so are recorded as 0000hrs on the following day.)
    Anyone know what it means??

It's just accepted my reading without any problem.  Make sure you're allowing session cookies from https://gulfgasandpower.uk
Edit: Note that it's plain .uk, not .co.uk

Tried logging in on 3 different browsers, ensuring all cookies allowed ,but no dice. Have sent them a message but whether anyone will read it this century...….  I wonder if EUC is a variation on EAC ??

Seems to be End User Category.
If you don't have one, perhaps it makes their billing system throw a wobbly because it won't know whether they're supplying a studio flat or the O2?

Not sure why the other thread was closed, but the two readings a month seems like a good idea.  I dread Symbio's variation on that theme though.......
