I was also talking about the box markings, the regulations you are quoting are when a junction has traffic flowing in two directions, in your case the road has traffic flow in one direction only, as on a dual carriageway, the markings are correct for that junction.
  • For those of you who want to see me prosecuted: I'll have to insist that i'm right in this case. So unless you can provide some help writing my appeal, unfortunately you will need to wait until i win my appeal, otherwise you would be wasting your time and mine trying to reply you.

Don't worry, once i win it, i'll keep you posted.

(Please don't hesitate to comment if i'm right or wrong in any of these points)

You asked for comments, you have got them, if you want to carry on and try to prove us wrong that is up to you, but don't ask for comments if you are not prepared to accept peoples opinions.
  • mkoprulu it'd be cheaper for you to pay up now cause you're gonna lose your appeal, you're guilty as charged & you know it!

Actually, although you are within your rights to appeal this and might win, I don't think you're correct about the box due to it being a dual carriageway - technically as both lanes are going in one direction the box is only on one half of the road, which you stated as the correct regulation.

Let us know how you get on anyway - it will be an interesting case.

I think you should just pay the fine now and save yourself a bigger bill later. In my opinion any assumption that the exit might have been clear based on the flow of traffic is flawed, as others have suggested there clearly wasn't a gap before you decided to enter the junction, which of course is the whole idea of these things in the first place!!! As for trying to get off by suggesting this junction isn't to specification, well it's not like you new this before contravening the law is it? As far as you would have been aware at the time, you would have entered that junction with a pretty good idea you weren't going to fully clear it, and I am sure you would have felt a little awkward for every minute sat on the junction. I know we all do it occasionally, especially where merging traffic is likely to fill the box you have just decided not to enter, but from personal experience I would say I am aware of doing this every time (the concious decision to enter the box, and then when actually sat within the box), so if I were caught, I should hold my hands up and just accept I was in the wrong!

Important: the offence is not stopping in a yellow box junction, but entering when your exit is not clear.

If your exit was clear & you have stopped for whatever reason , you have NOT committed an offence.

How many pictures do you have ??
A single picture does NOT prove anything whatsoever.

I wasn't talking about you in particular, i was aiming at the ones that were less related to the discussed situation like "GRRR i hate you, i hope you rot in hell for commiting the worst sin!!!".

In case of your comment though i still couldn't find where you read that it applies to dual carriageway rather than single. That's why i couldn't answer to you yet. But again, thanks for highlighting it up. I'd appreciate if you can point me to where you've seen it indicated as well.
