A quick vac around lounge/dining room & hall.
Washed windows in lounge, D/room and porch. Decided to do a test on what cleans windows best. So I used:
1. Water followed by a dry with a microfibre cloth
2. Water & a drop of vinegar followed by drying with MFcloth
3. As No.2 but dried with newspaper, as my lovely mum always did.
4. Glass spray using kitchen roll.
I divided a window into 4 sections and as the sun was shining it easily showed up any smears.
For me the best result was from using No.2. But obviously lots of you will probably have your own tried and trusted methods. 0 -
(Hugs) Narc0. I hope today is a better day
Well in many ways, yes as I was working this afternoon.
Went to florist am so lilies all ordered.
Went to aqua aerobics.
Did an assessment which will be relatively easy to write up.
Mr N has had a day of inane questions from various hospital co- ordinators. "She's mobile isn't she? Er...no, she can take about 3 steps with a Zimmer.
" Ah. We'll put her in a wheelchair to your car". No, she's meant to get hospital transport because of a broken hip.
"Ah. We'll take her to your house in an ambulance ". NO she lives alone in her flat.. .
It's not like we haven't filled in a million form and spoken to countless people. Ambulance was meant to collect at 4pm. Apparently it has picked her up in the last 10 mins, bit worrying as the carers arrive by 7.30.
So on balance, I had the better day, until I read the email from friend in Norwich who I haven't yet been able to visit, to say she is confirmed with ovarian cancer.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.0 -
Have a lovely final day of term and a fab time on the Isle of Wight, Valli.
Sounds chaotic, exhausting and frustrating, Narco.
2 x WM all out on the lines, 2 more loads ready when this lot's dry, made two urgent phone calls, and shifted myself upstairs from the sitting room to my office. Layla's fine on the stairs so life's easier if she and I are in my office and the kittens have the run of the house and yard. I had to do a fair amount of shifting of stuff and flying generally, and it's now quite civilized.
Lots more nose to noses with the kittens; Twiggle wants to ignore her completely, Higgs is desperate to play with her, and she's desperate to play with him. Unfortunately neither of them can understand each other's body language! Still taking it slowly, but good signs so far. One tiny little pee on the carpet near OH's side of the bed last night by her; first real mistake she's made and it was minutes after a long walk too. Not sure what that means but probably something to do with his arrival home after four days away; he thinks so anyway.
Over the past couple of weeks I've used nearly a whole tube of Stered*nt in the upstairs loo and it's now looking almost new again. I'd forgotten that tip and it really works. No idea why that particular loo gets so bad, none of the others I've been responsible for in my life ever have, just that one.Better is good enough.0 -
Done one day of working during my holiday for the benefit of the Offspring of the Parish. !!!!!!, the deadline for this work has been, gone, extended, been, gone, etc, for at least three months. I get dragged into work on my holiday for 'just one day to get it all finished'. Oh, right. 'I've not got around to doing that bit yet'. Repeat several times and guess what? Yep, I'm losing tomorrow as well.
Damned league tables and performance related appraisals. I'm all for trying to remove barriers to education, but this is ridiculous.
Dragged Himself out to Mr M for some shopping yesterday afternoon because I'm sick of Himself's efforts/constant overpurchasing of junk and insistence that I produce an extensive list (which he would still treat as optional and get 2 or 3 things on it) and meal plan out of thin air whilst sat on the settee unable to see what looks good or is on offer or, worse still, at work when I've got other things to think about. Took far longer than I wanted it to, but we finally have things like vegetables and basics for cooking, and I was very well behaved when, upon spotting fresh lambs' kidneys, asked if he would like Snake n Pygmy Pie - his reply wasn't 'Oh, yes, please' or 'That would be lovely', but was 'Do you know how to do that?'.
YES, I FLAMING WELL DO KNOW HOW TO COOK YOU MUPPET. THIS IS WHY I SAY THAT I MISS COOKING [STRIKE]AND CRINGE AT MOST OF YOUR OFFERINGS[/STRIKE].
Got back, he starts faffing around washing up the last couple of bits that I CBA to do the night before, I start snipping the things up whilst fending off a somewhat hysterical cat, retrieving the pie dish from where he'd frozen it (just take the food out to freeze, don't leave it in there). I'd already planned that there was enough for the felines as well, so dealt with them at the same time as cleaning up as I went along, made the filling, made the pastry (Why don't I buy the stuff? Seriously? Puff, fair enough, but shortcrust? Get real - it's flour, fat and water. Hardly rocket science). One perfect pie later, there isn't a single trace of my having cooked. And the sink isn't blocked. And I've cleaned the bathroom again.
I'm tired. I think I'm due on. He doesn't seem to have done anything today, except have me remotely instruct him how to make egg fried rice (actually edible). Going to head for the kitchen and probably clean that up again before an early night.
Argh. And if I get paid for these days, it's going straight onto replacing appliances. Assuming it isn't swallowed up by bills. I still have the suspicion, despite his claims to the contrary, that the possibility that I might escape full redundancy and keep a shorter hours position is tempting him to not actually do as much as the 'loads' of applications he reckons he's made in the last fortnight. It's getting down to the wire now. And I don't think I will be able to hold back if nothing happens by the time I finish the current post, whatever happens to me jobwise afterwards.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -

School holidays here.= nightmare with aggressive child. I have been ran at,squeezed, hit with books and slapped. Had to lock car doors to prevent an escape on the way to the dentist today.

Dancegran is in a different hospital about 15 miles apart
I still am coughing and have zero energy
Cleaned garden cat dishes and refilled bird feeder. Dailies done0 -
(((Hugs))) for you, dancemum, calming vibes for your DS, and healing vibes for Dancepops and Dancegran, and for you too. I wish I could offer your more practical help.
Sorry to hear about the fur baby, Pigpen.
Glad you've got some decent food in, Jojo. Not so good that you're having to work in the hols.
It sounds as if Layla is settling in really well, HB :T
Having been woken up by Rosie at 3.00 am, I slept for 2 hours this afternoonbut have worked hard this evening at the computer. Also had to go out this morning to visit someone and then do shopping. Flying has been minimal, but I am banking on Friday morning being free to catch up.
May not get on here in the morning as I've still got a lot to do before 6.30 pm, and its Toddlers *and* staff meeting in the afternoon.0 -
Good morning
Freezing outside and in. Still no heating and minimal hot water.
I’m trying to think of a plan for today as seriously cba. I’ve eventually got a load of washing dry so I’ll start by ironing that, then maybe chase the duster around. Maybe the lottie for an hour or so just because I should, not because I really want to. I think I’m taking DD out later to meet her friends which I’m glad about. She is spending way too much time with her nose in her school books.
Lots of coping / healing vibes to all you lovely ladies who are struggling atm. X0 -
