Selling Your Stuff on Amazon Part 11 - Advice for newbies in first two posts

  • I recently sold an ex library copy of this http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/0333358120/ref=olp_product_details?ie=UTF8&me=&seller= for £50. I can only imagine the person was after the dust jacket to put with a good copy of the book. That is the good thing about library books - that the jacket is usually beautifully protected in a plastic covering.

    The book had been listed since March 2005. I could easily have reduced it, or culled it because after 3 years I would not have thought it was worth it.

    Just goes to show you can never really know - sometimes it's good to be 'slack'.

    strangely enough my £49 book was an ex library book as well, it was this one:

  • Makes you wonder doesn't it.. At least you were listed with 2 other well known sellers Clyde Coast and Kenworthy. My fellow listers are not known to me at all - and their prices seem a little 'chancey' IYKWIM.

    Maybe I should stock up on a few more library books :confused: I haven't purposely bought from libraries for quite a while now - I only get them in job lots.

    I actually have quite a lot of ex library ones..my local library recently closed down so have been selling off their books for a year or so now.

    Mind you I got a strange email on Monday, it just said 'the book was a library book'..but when I checked it was sold as ex library and the condition and marks were all ntoed. I responded saying that and offering a full refund on safe return, but all I got back was 'it's OK I want the book I just thought you should realise it was a discarded library book for future reference' :confused:

    No feedback left as yet

    Oh dear, don't you just hate it when they don't read the description - I wish you luck.

    My last 'neutral' feedback was related to the fact that a puzzle I had sold was used and the pieces were in a freezer bag. It had been listed as used and a brand new (ziploc) freezer bag is safer than letting all the pieces rattle around in a box. Buyers are just the best!!!

    That book featured recently on the seller connection board as someone sold it for £160 on ebay - obviously some keen collectors out there;

    Well done on the sales - I've been quiet this week apart from one sale which is the most expensive book I've sold :j

    It went for £44.50 and was well chuffed as I bought it for £2 - might be getting the hang of this book selling.

    On the gloomy side not even started my tax return which consists of several piles of paper scattered and hidden round the house :eek:

    it's all to do with the ranking.

    Where do you find the rankings? they seem a really valuable piece of information in deciding what to offer.
