  • Well, they've confused me about the VAT, this page tells you all about the VAT changes http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=200301360&ie=UTF8

    And they say:

Have delivery costs also been reduced?

Yes! Delivery charges for items shipped to the UK are subject to VAT so these have also come down in price due to the VAT rate decrease. You can also see a reduction on our premium delivery options, such as Evening and Express Delivery, and on our unlimited free one-day delivery program on eligible items - Amazon Prime.

I did sell a book earlier today and £2.75 was credited.

Here it says that VAT is not chargeable on shipping for books as they are zero rated. http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/help/customer/display.html?ie=UTF8&nodeId=11072961

I sell for work (a charity) too and we have to show VAT on postage we charge people on Ebay so I would imagine that Amazon have to do the same. Postage is vatable but not sure how Amazon work it.

Over the weekend I sold about 10 books/DVDs and a video for £10 for work.

And 5 sales at home for my mum too so its been a very busy Amazon weekend for me.

Hi fedupandskint, welcome to the Amazon thread, you'll be hooked like the rest of us now!

I've found another Amazon change I don't like, the fact that when you get a pending there is no longer any way of tracking back to get contact details for the potential buyer . I used to use the system outline by Grogan, sending a polite contact explaining that th epayment hadn't gone through and that they needed to sort it out with Amazon so that payment could be made and the book shipped, I converted many a pending to a sale that way. I've got a couple of expensive pendings at the moment, both are Christma spresent type gifts and they are just sitting there..but they are so high in the rank I want them gone before any more people undercut me. It seems ot me it would be easier if Amazon changed the pending sytem entirely. I f a payment fails then keep the book 'live' so another buyer can have it, th eidea of waiting 72 hours is nonsense, sometimes it takes up to 5 days or more for th ebook to be relisted, and on a couple of occasions I have noticed it is never relisted at all.

You can do it, but it is a contorted route and I can't always find the right route to it.

I haven't got any pendings at the moment so this won't work for me, have you tried going to 'View your orders', click on 'advanced search' and then select the view that includes pending items?

That was the old 'Grogan' method and it appears to have been blocked now. My pending is still sitting there unlisted and I am missing the Christmas sales...arghhh.

  • This evening I have sold a book and was given the full £2.75 postage credit.

I also sold a DVD of my daughters and rather than last weeks £1.24 postage credit I only got £1.21.

So it seems some VAT changes are getting through

Books aren't Vateable of course so maybe that is the difference

  • Someone has cleared things up a little on the Amazon duscussion boards.

'Post and packing is considered to be a vatable item on vatable products, by customs and excise'

Hence the P&P change in items other than books

numberthree, it does look like the postage mess is being explained, it doesn't look like I am the only confused one though!

One thing that does stand out and is worth noting for new sellers is that the net amount received now for a VHS video sold at 1p is only £1.38 when most will cost £1.63 to send. It has been noted that many small and/or new sellers are still listing them at 1p though.

Gemmzie - on the "Manage your orders" page where you print the packing slip, just underneath is a "refund" option so you just need to refund their money and then relist your item
