Hi fedupandskint, welcome to the Amazon thread, you'll be hooked like the rest of us now!
I've found another Amazon change I don't like, the fact that when you get a pending there is no longer any way of tracking back to get contact details for the potential buyer . I used to use the system outline by Grogan, sending a polite contact explaining that th epayment hadn't gone through and that they needed to sort it out with Amazon so that payment could be made and the book shipped, I converted many a pending to a sale that way. I've got a couple of expensive pendings at the moment, both are Christma spresent type gifts and they are just sitting there..but they are so high in the rank I want them gone before any more people undercut me. It seems ot me it would be easier if Amazon changed the pending sytem entirely. I f a payment fails then keep the book 'live' so another buyer can have it, th eidea of waiting 72 hours is nonsense, sometimes it takes up to 5 days or more for th ebook to be relisted, and on a couple of occasions I have noticed it is never relisted at all.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Can someone please check something for me, I think I am going crazy.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/help/customer/display.html?ie=UTF8&nodeId=200038780
Postage credit on a book now shows as £2.69 and not the £2.75 it used to be? Is this somehting to do with VAT and if so why has it changed..I am at a loss as I was convinced postage wasn't VAT rated..but then maybe I am going crazy ...except that I paid my usual amounts for postage this morning.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I've just done the sums - It does seem that they've adjusted the postage downwards to reflect the new VAT rate, but I'm sure postage rates aren't affected by VAT.
With any luck, they've just set their computers to adjust across the board, and will put it right. Or......it will be another 'fee' to come off Amazon sales.0 -
I haven't sold anything today but yesterday my postal credit on a book was the usual £2.75. However, someone on the new seller board on Amazon says that the postal credits are coming through at £2.69 :eek:I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Hi Soolin,
I think is has something to do with when they reijigged the Amazon fee structure earlier in the year - we should still be getting the same amount for books sold - I haven't sold any today  so can't actually double check for you, but on the main listings delivery is still down as £2.75
As Amazon is based in Luxemburg they will not need to change any VAT on their site at all in response to the UK governments move.AMAZON SELLERS CLUB member 0033 come and join us :j make some space and get hold of some cash, we're on the ebay and other auctions, car boot and jumble sales board0 -
I've just tried a 1p listing with a random book and I get this:
Condition: Used - Very Good Condition comments: vv Your price: £0.01 Quantity: 1 Postage charge to buyer on your behalf (if sold):
Learn more about the Postage charge £2.75 for delivery within the UK*
Amazon.co.uk Marketplace fees (if sold):
Learn more about Seller Fees (£0.43) for delivery within the UK* VAT on Amazon.co.uk Marketplace fees:
Learn more about VAT on Seller Fees (£0.06) for delivery within the UK* Total you will receive (if sold): £2.27 for delivery within the UK*
So the full £2.75 is being applied to listings for market place sellers. Also as a double check I have done a test buy on a 1p book and I get charged £2.76, so that is all OK. I think my bit about Amazon not reducing VAT was rubbish!
Have just read a bit on the site which says they have dropped the rate where applicable to 15%
Having said that I have just paid my Pro-Merchant subs today and they stayed the same - £28.75, which is actually £25 + 15%.
So all confusing I'm afraidAMAZON SELLERS CLUB member 0033 come and join us :j make some space and get hold of some cash, we're on the ebay and other auctions, car boot and jumble sales board0 -
