No, you are not allowed more than one account with Amazon.

  • would be very interested to know how many books you all have in your inventory listed on Amazon?

Also, in relation to that answer, how many sales on average do you have per day??

And lastly, does anyone have this as their MAIN source of income???

Would be very interested in as many replies as possible. Thought about setting up a poll but too many options - lol!

Hi comicmankev, I'm a bit of a slacker when it comes to Amazon. I have 4344 currently listed and sold 34 in the last 30 days. I rarely get around to repricing which is why I have such alot of 'stagnant' stock. I do have a full time job, OH + 2 little monkeys - and that's my excuse.

I was trying to see if I could make a full time job of Amazon, which is why I have lots of books. But I worked out that it would take more hours and hard work (in a diminishing market) to earn what I earn in my day job. So, Amazon is more of a pass time and a nice little earner towards little extras etc (and yes, I do fill in a tax return as I am registered as a business).

Can any one shed any light on what sells well on amazon or at least sells for more than 1 pence anyway?

    cheers Simon

Have a read of the long posts at the beginning of the thread - there's info there on what sells. Academic and text books go well but can be seasonal and you have to be careful that they are the most recent edition as some subjects update often. Like anything else do some research ie what sold for a high price on ebay or find a niche market - books that you know about. Read the Amazon seller forum boards, theres lots of info there.

I currently have 116 open items, and make about 1 sale a week, although it comes and goes. I could really do with stocking up, but OH not so keen on losing anymore living space!
  • Finally getting round to making room on shelf space by selling a few of my books. I have noticed that several of them already have umpteen on offer at 0.01p. Given these are paperback, thicker than 25cm and therefore qualify as 'packages', the cheapest postge according to royal mail website is £1.63.

Add selling fees to that, how are these people not making a loss on these?
(Unless I suppose they sell a lot and just pay the monthly fee?)

    Thanks for any advice.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once
  • Hi BB

Some of the larger sellers have an account with the Royal Mail so it is cheaper for them to send them than for us. If Rupert pops on later he may be able to explain it a bit better, it's something to do with the number of packages in a sack and the total weight, so the average price is £something.

I don't list at 1p, the lowest I list at is 95p and I still make sales over and above others listed at 1p. I think it is because people are cautious on the internet and think that there must be a catch if a book is priced at 1p (the catch is that the P&P is £2.75 - but they don't always get that bit.)

As a pro-seller you also don't have to pay the closing fee, every little helps.
