This is excellent advice to bear in mind for the future.

Does the amount of stamps bear any relation to the value of the goods sent? For example sometimes I send things of modest value to a friend but send recorded anyway because we know her post is unreliable and just figure it is a bit of encouragement  . Would it still be worth claiming on the basis of the service I paid for wasn't forthcoming rather than the value of the items sent.:D

Thanks again a great thing to know.

Most of the work items I had unsigned were worthless to anyone but work..and they don't even ask what the item was. The compensation was paid for each and every one of the recorded tiems not signed for. I have another smaller batch here waiting to be done again.

  • Just had approval to sell in a restricted category, so lets see how it goes!

One thing is immediately apparent is their customer service seems miles better than ebay's. Even achieved phone contact with a human!

Bit dubious to whether there is a market for our products on Amazon- but anything would be nice boost as over the last month sales have flagged.
  • First question: How do you create a new product if it doesn't have a barcode? As you need either a EAN or UPC number.

EDIT: I just made one up.

EDIT Mk. 2: That was not the way to do it. You need to get into contact with a company like http://www.gs1uk.org. £99 start up fee +£99 annal membership fee.

I know this has been mentioned many times before but will add mine: great book/great service 4/5:confused: Annoying when you don't sell a lot and it makes a real difference to ratings but the real killer is it was for a 2p good as new book that I sent out the same day. This meant for the sake of making, in this case, under a pound it takes my whole rating down. If only we had psychic powers and could know when to avoid such scenarios. Hope everyone is well and selling loads;)

but when I click on the "sell one similar" button, it comes up with an ASIN that bears no relation to any of the numbers on the side of the box.
Is the ASIN an Amazon specific number, as I want to be sure that what I'm selling is the same thing. (I've only sold the odd book on amazon up till now.)
    Thanks

    it's amazon's own code

    What is an ASIN?

ASIN stands for Amazon Standard Identification Number. Almost every product on our site has its own ASIN--a unique code we use to identify it. For books, the ASIN is the same as the ISBN number, but for all other products a new ASIN is created when the item is uploaded to our catalogue.

I'm getting an unusual number of orders that are delayed, then cancelled, after selling a couple of books on the end of a selling drought. Is this happening to anyone else?

I've not had that..but there are a huge amount of sellers out today, must be the poor weather. I've sold 5 items so far since this morning, mostly old stock I'd virtually given up on.

Actually there is a company on amazon that will sell you barcodes individually at £20 a go. Unless you plan on needing a lot this could well be a better method than having to pay £200 up front and then still have to pay a nominal registration fee per barcode generated! ASIN - B0013EGXQM

Many thanks. Would be very handy but we'll need in excess of 50 so I think we'll have to go down the other route.

It's not just for amazon we need them really, if/when we sell to the bigger retailers I expect they'll want products barcoded for stock tracking etc.
