Although not posted for ages, still trying to keep up with reading the thread, even though work is preventing me from doing so as much as I would like  . Still selling a regular small volume of books - this year has been not too bad so far - which suits me (although I guess I wouldn't complain if selling loads!!)
I sold a book which I posted out (very promptly for me) which was just over a week ago. Buyer has contacted me to say he hasn't received it yet. I am happy to refund him, just wondering how long I should leave it in case it does turn up (knowing my luck I would refund, then it would turn up!)
I got proof of posting (was paid £29.99 for the book), so can make a claim and am aware that I have to wait 15 working days before I can do so, but what is best practice in terms of customer service please?
I know this has been asked many times before on the previous threads (and possibly this one) and I have tried searching through (honest!!), but couldn't find what I was looking for.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks.
Hope the selling fairy has been out in this glorious weather spreading her selling dust to everyone(she hasn't been here yet, but maybe she will now I've made a post!)

Really starting to get into this selling lark now. Processed about 40 books last night and I have just picked up >100 used paperbacks today so will try to get them online this week.
Amazing the variety of books that are available, I had books that dated back to 1930's and I still managed to find them on Amazon. These old books were pretty worn, but I tried to make that clear in the description. I did offer any potential buyers to contact me first before making a purchase - I assume that this is OK?0 -
Be careful about suggesting that buyers contact you first..it could be seen as an attempt to sell outside of the Amazon system. Personally I would not risk putting that in my listings, as long as you describe the items condition well and it is being sold under the correct edition there should be no need for the buyer to contact you before buying.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. If you are clearly offering further information, or scans/photos of the book it's fine to include this along these lines -

It's also worth asking the customer to confirm the delivery address, don't tell them what it is though as they won't always admit a mistake!
A little trick used by some experienced amazon sellers is to use a different email address on the packing slip, so if any emails are ever received on these about undelivered orders you can guarantee they are trying it on!Do You Twitter?

Hi,
I've sold some more things and got them all dispatched. I'd like to know a bit more about the feedback system. There doesn't seem as much emphasis on feedback as there is with ebay. Does everyone leave feedback for the buyer straight away or do you take the ebay approach and wait until they leave you some? I also don't really get the feedback system for buyers, it's seems a bit redundant (admittedly I know very little so please correct me) as people add the item and pay by credit card, there is none of thing hanging around getting emails saying my paypal is broke or NPB that there is with ebay?
More importantly if you had to estimate/guestimate what percentage of transactions do you get feedback for where you are the seller? On ebay most leave feedback due to the fact of people wanting to build up their own by buying (obviously this will change in May).
It's just I can see myself having sold items and still saying just launched.
Thanks0 -

Many times the order is awaiting collection at the delivery office as a delivery attempt has been made but no card left to notify this. Ask the customer if they can contact their local delivery office.

Thanks for this - I have already asked him to check his delivery office (although he said he worked from home so it wasn't usually a problem and postie would leave a card anyway). I had emailed him prior to dispatch as I realised I had missed something off my description, so he already had my email address.
I don't think he's being unreasonable in letting me know now that it hasn't arrived, just not sure whether to ask him to wait until say Monday (two weeks after posting) and then refund, or just do it now?
