    Hello

    I'm new to all this.

I listed a couple of books the other night but they were pretty common and weren't going for much so wasn't expecting them to sell.

However listed a couple of books today and one was listing at £130 - £200, I know it is out of print and is in a specialised area. I bought it when I was in USA as couldn't get over here. However on amazon earlier editions are only listed for £30 - 40. I checked Bookfinder.com and all the copies of my edition were selling at btw £80 - 200 but it was only available on amazon. So the cheaper prices were for books being sold in USA / Canada.

I was a bit confused, at how to price it. So in the end I put it for £140 but the other sellers were all American except for the most expensive which was £200.

I have read the newbie posts (hence checking on Bookfinder.com - did that for a book I've put on for £50 but the book on there is selling at £23 - oops!) but not sure I've done right thing....

Apologies for lengthy post, I'm rubbish at writing succintly!

Thanks and also apologies if this is a FAQ and I should have read more of the thread.
I've got my own flat :j:j

Now I have to pay the bills

Hi makeup and welcome, no question is ever too trivial or too complicated for us to mull over on here!. Check the ranking of your book as well that will give you some indication as to whether it sells or not.

Otherwise leave it listed at an experimental price and make a habit of checking back every few weeks to check if anyone else has listed one, or if the sales ranking has changed and adjust your price downwards a little each time if ranking gets worse.

EDIT: Just to add that I listed a book just before I logged into MSE and it has just sold, so less than 15 minutes again. It's getting a bit spooky.

Listed something earlier and got the confirm email. When i go and look on the site in my seller account, its under closed listings, the listing says quantity 0. And time is an hour ago. But no sale or confirmation of sale email. So does this mean its sold? in someone's basket? all a bit weird.

Hi BOB, similar thing happened to me yesterday, a book suddenly appeared in closed listings with a '0' but it took about 2.5 hours for the SDN email to come and for it to show up in my orders so maybe amazon is a bit slow at the moment. Wait and see what happens and don't be tempted to relist it yet in case it sells twice.

It will still show as availabe to buy AFAIK even if someone puts it in their basket otherwise I suspect all sorts of unscrupulous seller shenanigans to sabotage 'rival' sellers would abound  .

    Hope its a sale :D

You are obviously on the express server. I on the other hand sold a book I listed over two years ago so am obviously on the somewhat slower one;)

I spent most of last year on the slow server it didn't matter how I priced my books I struggled to sell anything. It's just like someone suddenly switched my listings on in November.

Could it be a pending where an email has got lost?

Sounds right to me, unless you are desparate for the money.

It costs nothing to list on Amazon and when the listing runs off, you can easily re-list for free, so you might as well put it on towards the high end of the price range and sit back.

If you get no interest, you can always bring the price down slowly through your seller account, but personally I would just let it run for a while.

    Hi
Just gone into the view payments page and it says that my balance is £0.00 but I know it should be £50+ as all the transactions are there just not showing on first page. Any ideas? I haven't requested the money be sent to me. I have emailed them but wasn't sure how long they take to reply.

    Thanks

  • Hi everyone
Sorry if this is a daft question.
I've just posted my first 4 items I've sold and have now gone to the View Orders section on Amazon. Clicked the Contact Buyer/Shipping Notifcation.....
Do I type anything on here or is something auto generated by Amazon?
    Thanks
    Chris
