I think you should list it but make it clear in the listing what the buyer would be buying - make sure it's the firrst thing they see in your notes. I did something similar with a video recently that actually had different actors in than amazon said - several other sellers had also pointed out the discrepancy!

By the way, can anyone tell me why in my 'closed listings' list a few of them don't show up? Does it only show listings for the past month or something?
  • Thanks sarahs999 - I'll do that.

oh pants, this morning i've sold an item weighing 4-5kg worth approx £100 on amazon. for some reason i stupidly thought oh thats ok i can send by parcelforce 48 for £10.99 through paypal.... um no, what has paypal go to do with an amazon sale? duh

is it too much of a risk to send it by standard parcels with extra insurance but obviously with no tracking?

normal parcelforce charge is £14.99 which will wipe out most of my profit. I know it's only £4 more than the paypal parcelforce charge, but that was a bit too much really, just thought it would be quick, easy and safe.

what are my other options? help! i need to get it sent today or tomorrow really

edited to add - i'm a bit wary of using ebay couriers or anyone from cheap courier thread unless they come highly recommended as i have had problems in the past with them!

I have a little question, I wonder if anyone can answer it? I have a board game I want to sell and it is stocked on Amazon, but the box has a different illustration to the one on mine. I think mine is about 3 years old (good condition, with all bits present though!) so they have obviously updated the box. Can I still list it? And how should I phrase it? I am worried I will get a buyer complaining because I haven't sent them the advertised item.

    TIA

I have a few items that differ from the Amazon pics - either slightly different pictures (year of release I guess) or the Amazon pic is just wrong - I just note this in the description.

What I have noticed though, is that Amazon buyers don't read the discription, so if the difference is significant, I always contact them to confirm they are happy before posting.

The important thing is to ensure that your parcel is insured for the value of the sale - the PO should be able to advise best option based on the size and weight. Provided you then keep the receipt/proof of posting, you have all the protection that you need (you would still need to refund the buyer if it went missing, but would re-claim from the PO).

hmm so it will cost me £10.30 for standard parcels with £100 insurance and i can just take it to the post office today, but have no tracking

or pay interparcel £10.30 inc vat and extra compensation from £50-£100 and have tracking but also possibly have to wait in all day tomorrow, and be worried that im not dealing directly with the courier myself

i wonder if the amazon buyer would be annoyed if it was delivered by courier rather than royal mail - eg if they're not home during the day its usually a lot further to go to the courier depot than local royal mail sorting office

They can easily phone and arrange re-delivery

  • Hi Everyone
Thanks for a great thread, an exhaustive read to say the least :T

We've just decided to dip into selling on Amazon and wanted to know if there was any way to see what items have sold?
Kind of like on Ebay where you can search completed listings, which gives you an idea of whats sold and how much for.

Thanks in advance for any help
