So far in April I've spent £5.70 on food and £2.98 on 2 pints of beer In 'Spoons.
I've also got a £300 Bid on a lovely acoustic guitar I'm Ebaying... Alos selling a longboard skateboard,
Also got a £120 rebate on my Council tax.
I cooked a veggie curry with odds and sods I had in the kitchen cupboards and fridge and got 8 portions out of that. Hoping to eat for most of the next two, maybe three, weeks out of the freezer and cupboards... will see.
Also moved my Gym Home gym to Northampton and gone from £22 pm to £17DEBT FREE - Feb '21& Mortgage Free Nov '24
Now, let's look at FIRE0 -
Evening all
Stocktaking is finished :T
Babysitting ongoing though, the two smallest GCs are both poorly
Cold not too bad thank goodness, hopefully it will just be a sniffle. Hospital appointment tomorrow, so I would rather not be full of cold.
Managed a few small things today:
Cooked HG fruit for breakfast instead of bought fruit
Small shop at Mr S, also did my food bank donation for the monthso still on 3 NSDs
Found some YS pork shoulder steaks (though we don't get the really big reductions that others talk about round here). Still, 70p off is better than nothing. It is quite a large pack, so I will make a big pan of sweet and sour pork tomorrow, half for dinner and half to freeze
Spends noted down in diary
Took a couple of items in to my sales unit, but will have to take more tomorrow as one larger item sold straight away. At least now I have done my stocktaking I know what I have and where to find it!
Wrapped a couple of ebay parcels ready to post tomorrow
Walked dog, though it was a very short walk as he doesn't 'do' rain
Watered seedlings in greenhouse. Picked some radishes for dinner while I was at itI grow early ones in a pot.:)
Made a cake
Easy dinner of bought tortelloni with HM tomato sauce from the freezer, with salad. Last of rhubarb crumble for afters. Diet not going great today
And OH hoovered round downstairs while I was out babysitting, without being asked :A0 -
Morning it's fridaaaaay :j:j it's felt like another long week here. Some nice things planned this weekend so all good.
Things for today:
Try to get new sim to work in phone and transfer my number. Blimy companies make this this difficult don't they.
Check banking, update sheet
Got yesterday's socked chickpeas cooking before work
Shuffle some washing
Flylady bathroom
Get something out of freezer for tea
Veg box coming today, double check meal plan tonight and tweak if need be
Something on box with mr Purps tonight
Have a good day folks. Purps.0 -
Children are having a day with my parents, whilst me & OH visit friends.
I'm not sure what the plans are at our friends so that is making it difficult to plan.
Today I plan to:
PAD
Record any spends
Take hot drinks for the journey
Pack snacks and water bottles
Write out schedule for next week, as OH is taking a weeks leave and the children are involved in a project in a nearby ciity, I want to make the most of our time as well as creating a realistic plan for next week's home education.
Pmp etc
Check bank account
Wash hair and let it dry naturallyFashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent
79.5 coupons rolled over 4/75.5 coupons spent - using for secondhand purchases
One income, home educating family0 -
And OH hoovered round downstairs while I was out babysitting, without being asked :A
How lovely!
TGIF is all I have to say today. 30 minutes into work and I'm already tearing my hair out... so popped on here for a breather
Yesterday:
- bike to work AM at least (in the rain ) - Done AM, wimped out of PM, which turned out to be good as my car was ready to collect which would have involved a lot of shuffling
- gym AM to use membership - Done, sore today!
- all meals and snacks from stores - use up soya yoghurt - Done!
- try again with the dentist - [STRIKE]blanked from my mind[/STRIKE] forgot
- 2nd bag of clean laundry - as above
- walk dog - we considered it, dog wasn't keen. OH pointed out I would enjoy it significantly more out of the two of us (me and the dog, not me and OH, although that is also true). Dog pottered around the garden, quite quickly it must be said, then came in to snooze by the fire for the evening.
Today:
- bike to work AM
- all meals and snacks from stores (slightly cheating as we're having a box delivery, but there is a cashback code and discount on it so it works out we're being paid for the privilege :money:)
- attempt calling the dentist again
- change sheets and put away the blasted clean laundry
- don't spend any other money, especially after yesterday's garage bill, which was a bit
Have a good day all!0 -
Morning folks
HK and Dawn - hope hospital apps go ok
Merida - POWER. The only cure for Crossfit soreness is more Crossfit hahahaha
Waves and hugs to all!
Well it's been a bit of a funny day yesterday. Was about to post what a fab day i was having but then it took a turn as fil went into hospital. Still, I shall recount the tales.
It was one of those spendy days that is saving if you get my drift.
First thing I made a batch of muffins to use up left over mincemeat. Did weekly budget sheet. Then we went into a nearby town as OH wanted to sort his phone contract as it was due for renewal.
Parked in usual car park and as we came out of it, noticed a new plastic-free dry goods shop. Went in and very nice lady told us all about the shop and in formed us that there was a secret car park ticket machine in the market that if you scan your ticket, would give you a £1 discount on parking :money:Bought some banana chips (needed some anyway) and noted to return. Prices not cheap but as more customers use the shop they may come down.
Went to phone shop. OH decided to go sim only so £14 a month saved. Man in shop then told us about new sim based wifi router. We are out of contract with our current provider for this. New router £7.50 per month cheaper for more data (unlimited in fact!). Signed right up. :money: Cancelled other wifi when I got home.
Had to have lunch out but tried a new place and REALLY enjoyed it. Spends from budgeted fun fund.
Then went on a hunt for new jeans. I did patch mine but now they are ripping around the patches. A girl can only go so long. Jeans shopping difficult at the best of times as I have muscular + plump thighs and bum and a small waist. Found some that fitted lovely in Debenhams. They were doing 40% off denim so were only £24 instead of £40 :money:
OH also treated me to a yarn bowl that we saw in a very nice new shop. Bowl only £4.86!!! He also needed a new wallet. Found a leather one in TKMaxx for £12.99. This from OH's pocket money.
Came home feeling marvellous and relaxed, then OH's mum called to say that fil was in hospital. This probably a good thing really as he'll get all the consultants and treatment he needs. I think he's a bit brighter. We are going over today.
So today's mission is to try and sort the in laws and ourselves at the same time. OH has gone to the gym. I should have gone but decided to swap to tomorrow and sort out meal plans for ourselves and the in laws. I'm going to do some batch cooking so that they are sorted for food over the next few days. Currently writing a list out to suit all and will go to the butcher's on the way in.
Will be keeping the faith re usual things of heating, no drinking (amazingly disinterested in this now), general house pottering. I had a good look through my crochet patterns last night as I want to make some things to sell from my stash. Had a few ideas and started a pillow case.
Have a good one all

CLF - That's a really good price on a yarn bowl. I have one & have also bought one the past as a gift. They are usually hand-potted, so tend to be expensive to reflect the work that's gone into them. Having said that mine is ornamental more than it's used, as I find they work best with balls of yarn rather than the sort of fat sausagey shapes it usually comes in. It looks really nice up on my HQ windowsill though!2025's challenges: 1) To fill our 10 Savings Pots to their healthiest level ever

Morning Friday Frugalistas,
Despite awaking with a stupid headache, I'm achieving a fair bit today, well so far, anyway. Frugal efforts on today's list:
*Clean entire house using minimal products & washable microfibre cloths.
*Deal with loo roll stash before it gets out of hand!
*Baked sourdough loaf I mixed up yesterday.
*Topped up bird feeders with odds & ends plus kitchen scraps.
*Watered seedlings.
*Transferred baby tomato & chilli plants to greenhouse as it is warmer in there than our conservatory today.
*Potted up baby cucumbers & aubergines. All cloched with recycled plastic bottles.
*Write shopping list.
*Pack charity shop offerings from my big wardrobe sort out into bags for dropping off tomorrow.
*Make a list of everything I can usefully do in town tomorrow when we'll be aiming for free parking.
*Give conservatory a quick spruce up for Spring. No spending required.
*Avoid potential vet bills by refusing to let cat out of the front door. He has a cat flap into the back garden so if he must go out the front, he will have to walk round. He was attacked by the local thug cat yesterday afternoon. I managed to split things up before it got too nasty & expensive, but he came in with clumps of fur hanging off & judging by the amount of fur he was spitting out, he'd at least managed to aim a bite at Thug Features. He'd probably be a nicer cat if only the owners would do the responsible thing & take him in for Trouble Nugget Removal. Anyway, cat a bit sorry for himself this morning & wasn't even very interested in his breakfast.
*Did a couple of surveys.
*Feed & water conservatory plants, especially the geraniums, which will be used for free summer colour in outdoor containers as soon as the temperatures warm up a bit.
*Scout round fridge & pantry for lunchtime use-it-up opportunities.
Then I shall treat myself to a nice hot bubbly soak in the bath!
Enjoy your Fridays all - Hey, CCL, you made it!! (unless they've got you in Easter detention!)
